Patrick Swayze Hospitalized!

Hopefully this minor setback doesn't turn into a major complication, but…..
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Patrick Swayze, who is fighting pancreatic cancer, has been rushed to the hospital.
The actor was expected at a promotional event on Friday for his new A&E show, The Beast, but had to cancel because he was not feeling well.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Swayze is in the hospital suffering from pneumonia.

I watched the Baba Wawa Special, and he didn't look that great. My dad died of cancer, and he had that look like my dad did as he got sicker.

I also noticed on the special that he had a cough. It sounded like the cancer may have gotten to his lungs.

Nothing goes together like pneumonia and cigarette smoking! I wish him the best but if a bout of pneumonia while fighting cancer does not get him to quit smoking nothing will.

I really hope he comes out of this but he most likely won't. Usually, when an already sick person in admitted into the hospital with something else, especially pneumonia, the are usually gone within a week or two. His immune system is way too screwed to fight this. I will be amazed if he makes it to the end of this month.

That's really scary. I hope he gets better but history has taught me that Pneumonia is as good as a death sentence. Especially given that his body is already fighting cancer. Keep fighting PS

Watching him on Barbara Walters was like being on a death watch.
I give him less than a month… So sad because I use to be IN LOVE with him. Remember "North and South"??? Oh yeah, he was a thing of beauty.
He has checked himself into the hospital, according to news reports from the Television Critics Association convention in Los Angeles. I don’t want to count him out because there is always a chance.
It is sad that's how addicted he is to cigarettes that he can't stop even when he's DYING of cancer and now pneumonia…. damn cancer stick takes lives.

That's bad news. As someone who takes the same immune-suppressant drugs that many chemo patients take, the one thing that is stressed is the danger of developing pneumonia, as the body can't fight the illness. I'm keeping my fingers crosed.
I liked every movie I ever saw him in BUT I know for a fact the type of cancer he has is The Worst You Can Get. People I know who had it lasted less than six months. If he didn't have the funds that he has for special doctors he would be dead already. Plus what he has is extemely painful. Life is not fair and it never has or will be. He has brought many of us a lot of pleasure.

That is not good. Depending on what treatment he is undergoing (if its chemo, which is imuno-suppressant, this could be critical).

My prayers are all for him, that he not suffer. When his time comes, and God only knows when, we should remember that the new life we are entering after our life on earth ends - that new life if much much better. That is the buddhist philosophy and I completely believe it makes sense, otherwise why would we ever be here ?

It is about that time…stage 4 Pancreatic cancer is pretty much a death sentence….especially if you continue to live the same lifestyle ….

I may sound like a heartless bitch but…He makes it REALLY REALLY hard for me to feel bad for him getting pneumonia when he is STILL SMOKING EVEN THOUGH HE HAS FUCKING CANCER!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, he should just put a fucking bullet in his head and get it over with. What a waste of talent.

Sad, my mother died of the same cancer and he's lucky that he is as "healthy" as he's been with this amount of time being diagnosed. As for him smoking when you are terminal and you know you have months to live you do the things that make you happy. although his immune system is shot he knows the risks that come with smoking on chemo or post chemo…you ever think mayb he's come to terms with his fate and just wants to enjoy what makes him happy…there is no surviving stage 4 of this cancer there is no getting better no matter how much money you have

He seems to be removed from the reality of his situation in a weird way. He acknowledges that he is sick of course but he keeps acting like its not really there or like he is in remisison or whatever. Is he?? Im not even sure at this point. I just read on here recently that he wont quit smoking even though he has pancreatic cancer or whatever and that is weird in itself. If your sick and you need to take the best care possible to get better then, give up the cigs?? I don't know maybe he doesn't feel like his smoking has anything to do with his cancer?? Or maybe he just doesn't care at this point. Some people don't fight it when they find out they have cancer, they just give into it. That is what I am trying to nail, it kind of seems like he thinks he is above it in a weird way. It would be beneath him to fight for his life. Bizzarre.
Love him, poor thing, never be a hot str8 male dancer like that again.
