The Golden Globes Were Saggy - Ratings WAY Down!

Keeping with the ongoing slump in awards show viewership, the 66th Annual Golden Globes averaged just 14.6 million viewers with a 4.8 rating.
That's a 26% decrease in viewers from 2 years ago. If you recall, last year's Golden Globes were reduced to a brief conference an account of the strike.
Desperate Housewives - which was significantly overlooked by the Globes - swept in to outdo the awards show by getting more viewers in the 9:00pm hour.

That's because they censor the live shows too quickly. Before you never knew what could happen now its just plain boring. Gone were the days of quick booby flashes, swearing, fights and flipping off the camera.

Usually they show a repeat of a primetime show when an awards shows are on. I was shocked that 24 and DH's were on against the the GG's. I am an award show fan… so I gave up DVRing 24 in order to see DH and the GG's…. The only thing naughty was Darren Arnofsky gave Mickey Roarke the finger and it was a really close up shot…. shocked they didn't clip it.
Please Perez post the video of Megan Fox's interview on the red carpet!!!!! I smell trouble with her boyfriend!!!!! I hope she dumps his sorry ass!!!!
Why would anyone want to watch these self absorbed people giving each other such worthless kudos? Acting is their job, no one gives me an award for doing my job. Hollywood makes me want to vomit.

Listen I soooo wanted to watch the Globes but like HALF of Indiana had zero access to NBC. I was PISSED all I got was E!'s pre-show but NO awards! I checked winners on the Golden Globes site.

I purposely avoided watching this year, even though I have some favorites that won. I felt that the overt glitz and blatant dispaly of wealth was kinda in bad taste with todays economic issues. It just didn't seem right.
I attempted to watch, but turned because the writing was so bad! Everything that came out of the presenters mouths was not entertaining in the least bit, and far from funny. You would think the GG's would be able to get some good writers, I mean come on! Kate Winslets acceptance speech was genuine and downright wonderful though!
i actually watched the golden globes or at least most of it…but i do have to admit that the award shows have gotten progressively more boring over the years…they need to do something to vamp it up and make it more interesting for sure

I sure as hell don't watch award shows. Most of it's become political now. These overpaid sacks of self absorbed elitist donkey dung don't need anymore encouragement from us plebes. Yeah, I really want to look at these people who drop enough $$$ on one dress that would equal a year of my mortgage payments.
Srsly, these people don't even live in the real world. They live in California which is soon to have tax rates so high that only the super rich will be able to afford to live there someday.

When are the major networks going to wise up and start streaming their programming online? If live video of the Golden Globes had been available online, viewership would have been much much higher. The network that carried the show could have posted the program online after the fact as well, but chose not to. Memo to the big networks: face the future before it ruins you any more than it already has! Time to play catch up while you can.
The Golden Globe's are more boring than ever, especially since the movies nominated, were so obscure to those of us here in the good ole USA.
I REFUSE to watch it because Eva Langoria is a fur wearing cold heated bithc.
