Legendary actor Ricardo Montalban has passed away.
The star, best known for his role on Fantasy Island, died Wednesday morning at his home in Los Angeles.
He was 88 years old.

I used to love that show when I was a kid. This guy was quintessential Hollywood class, all dapper and suave. And great as Kahn in Star Trek II.

He also played the grandfather in the Spy Kids trilogy WHILE WHEELCHAIR STRICKEN! In fact, his character is in a wheelchair too (except the one where he goes into the video game and they give him crazy robot legs). Classy…like Corinthian leather.

One of his films, "Mstery Street" (1950), was on TMC several weeks ago. Check it out if you have a chance. It was one of the first films to focus on forensic science.
I loved the guy. Sorry to see him go.

Mr. Montalban was a kind, gentle man and strong Catholic. He made great movies in the 40's and 50's and had a long career.

aw, that's the passing of an icon. i remember him as khan in star trek and the fabulous fantasy island shows. RIP Ricardo.
TMZ makes no mention of the death of Ricardo Montalban. Considering this man's enormous impact to the Hispanic community and contributions to the entertainment industry. He entertained generations with movies and shows…and considering the stories TMZ did decide to run at the expense of this important story…I'd say that TMZ is pretty pathetic being scooped by Wikipedia!!
I 'll always remember being 4-5 years old and getting to stay up "late" 9 pm on Friday nights to watch ABC and see Tattoo climb the bell tower and yell "de plane! de plane!" LOL - ah, childhood memories. I had no idea how lame and cheesy the show really was.
He was a good actor and fun to watch. I hope his coffin is lined in Fine Corinthian Leather, he deserves it?
One of the best parts of the 70's + 80's was Fantasy Island!
