What a sucky ploy to lure in viewers!
This year, the head honchos for the Oscars have decided not to release the names of any of the celebrity presenters.
Usually they'll mention and promote their celeb presenters weeks before the show to get people interested in watching the telecast.
This time around, Oscar producers Laurence Mark and Bill Condon are doing something different.
They're hoping to get viewers interested by keeping people in suspense.
Unger said today, "There will be fantastic movie stars that appeal to a whole range of movie lovers and fans of our show. We're just not going to tell you who they all are."
Boring!
The show will air live on February 22nd from Los Angeles.

Ugh, if they REALLY want to get viewers to watch, how about less stupid interpretive dance segments, and just announce the damn winners. It amazes me that people in hollywood so overestimate how interesting they are.

They're not going to give me any incentive to tune in ahead of time? Why bother then? I guess they couldn't get an big-name stars and so that's the real reason they've decided not to announce who they DID get.
The Oscars are always boring no matter how they change it up. They need to get rid of the middle awards and just give out the main ones typically handed out in the beginning and in the end.

I bet there are fewer celebrities willing to give out awards now that they no longer have swag bags or at least swag bags that are worth as much as they used to be because the IRS started cracking down on all of the freebies that they were getting which in some cases were worth upwards around $150,000. Ridiculous! Just for giving a stupid trophy that's long since lost it's stature. The Oscars and the Golden Globes mostly look like a popularity contest rather than an acknowledgement of the finest in cinema. Back in 2000 they showed a clip of an actor whom I've never heard of portraying a polish artist that I never heard of in a film I hadn't heard of and in the brief film clip I was moved to tears! That man should have won not Russel Crowe but he was the more popular nominee.

I agree. The only chance they have of getting me to tune in is by flashing pictures of someone I find interesting over and over and over again. I'm not the kind of person who marks these events on my calander and I'm probably not alone.
I definitely see this one backfiring. . . because I never cared about who the presenters were before! Why would I care now?

Umm…does anyone watch this show for the presenters. It drags on and on and on. Maybe the should have Playboy Bunnies present. That might help their audience pay attention……..at least almost half of them.

This is the dumbest thing ever! I dont even care who presents, I just want to know who wins. Watching the show bores me to death! The speeches are long and boring! I just want to know who wins and that's it. If I want to hear a speech I will check youtube the next day.
won't change my mind. i've grown up and am so over the self promotion,self indulgent rhetoric spewed from people who are only revered because they have money. there are so many talents who have not been afforded the same opportunity because of their lack of "movie star" looks. talent should be appreciated for just that., regardless of how pretty you are.
