Funnyman Carell Bought a Store In These Craptacular Economic Times
Filed under: Steve Carell
Part-time Massachusetts resident, funny man Steve Carell, bought the Marshfiled Hills General Store on the state's south shore.
Carell has put his sister-in-law in charge of the 155-year old establishment.
The store's previous owner said that she and her husband sold the biz to the star after being convinced that he wanted it "for the right reasons."
How much were those 'right reasons' worth?

Re: mama of 2 – wow, yawn, next..? funny, thats exactly how I feel when I read your comments!
I have lived in Marshfield Hills since I was born. That store is a HUGE cash cow. My best friend's parents were co-owers of it and steve bought it from them. Its the only town in that part of town and it's connected to a postoffice, so lots of people are always in there. It's the cutest little store so it was smart. It is a historical building. He's a great man for buying it.
marshfield
not Marshfiled
Yeah, well — we all know you wouldn't know what "the right reasons" were if they jumped up and punched you in the face. But of course, you have to ask how much those kinds of things cost. You're such an asshole, Mario.
.;p
HARRY
Re: _Alice_ – wait till I say action god these people
Re: _Alice_ – I was thinking a maybe a waiting pool filled with jello but whatever.

Re: LizardKinG – sorry…she's excited.
he's so awesome.
Re: LizardKinG – hahahahaha…I can dig it.
Hey, I'm not buying anything at your little genral store because you don't carry the warm to the touch KY stuff I can get at CVS, but I wanted to know if I could use your mens room and maybe leave a mess and the seat up when I am done! Thanks.
Did anyone notice how the "rock star" wanna be on Idol this week (the sales rep with the head band) completely resembled Steve Carrell? The poor douchebag was serious. Love ya steve!
That's in my hometown! Should make for an interesting summer for the locals.
The right reasons? More like the right price…geeze, how stupid do they think we are?
Awesome. Keep the little places goin.
He's a MASShole now!!!!!
Actually, the "right reasons" is that other developers wanted to buy the store and change it. The Shrands and Singers were also co-owners with the Bechtolds, and they sold it to Tish/Steve cause they said they'd keep it a general store and keep the atmosphere of quaintness, etc…
My dad works at the store and so far, so good! Tish is really nice and all of us marshfieldians are glad the MHGS is in good hands!
Good luck with that!
Re: LizardKinG –
Waiting Pool? LMAO! Are you serious? It's WADING, you moron. How many people read this site and can't spell what they are talking about????!!
THE REASONS: this store has historical value. people already had it closed for sometime in the past. they sold civil war uniforms there.. his right reason his to preserve things in his town.
it only takes one person to make a difference to preserve our history and natural habitats!
i live a town away from marshfield mass and now i really wanna go visit to see if they store has changed.
Re: harrybalsac – #3 LMAO
he seems like a nice guy…maybe he just wanted a store
Re: kelsea – if you do let us know
