Michelle Obama Dressed By Cuban American
As you've probably seen by now, the new First Lady, Michelle Obama, was wearing a sparkling yellow, knee-length dress along with a matching coat on Inauguration Day.
And we've just found out that the dress was made by one of our fellow Cuban Americans!
Designer Isabel Toledo made Obama's outfit for the swearing-in ceremony.
Toledo attended New York's Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons School of Design and she's been designing under her name for more than 20 years.
Toledo is married to fashion illustrator Ruben Toledo and you can find her outfits at Barneys New York. She was also the creative director of Anne Klein for some time.

She is far from being a hypocrite, she actually bought this at a chain store for about $300 - pretty thrifty if you ask me.
The designer said of her purchase;
" The designer admitted she was thrilled that Michelle Obama had chosen one of her pieces - and even more thrilled that she'd simply gone to a shop in Chicago and bought it, rather than getting in touch with Toledo.
“She looked amazing,” Toledo said at the time. “I understand that she buys a lot of my work. I’m very, very honored for that. It’s even better than her contacting me, the fact that she just goes out and buys it!”

In the 70's we had a couch made out of that same fabric. Same color, too. It was called Herculon and it was VERY scratchy and indestructible.
I thought it looked like it was made out of curtains or something.

She looks Hot, they are just an awesome couple and damn they look good together!!!!! This was a great choice for her, and I love the red tie on him, it it's just the splash of color needed next to her in her outfit.

The dress is too frilly with decorative design for such a manly face. She should have stuck with a solid color.
She's got one mean looking mouth and eyebrows. I wouldn't go against her in any sport. She could win just by intimidation.

I would have liked to see her in Red…would have looked so good with her skin tone. And would have paired nicely with his red tie.

Jackie O wore tasteful French designers who had a very petite woman to dress. Michelle Obama is shaped like a sack of potatoes, and for being so "athletic", she is gawky and has awful posture. The Narcisso black and red dress looked like a maxi pad, and this dress looks like a costume for a Broadway show- a glittery banana. It isn't classic, it isn't tastsful, it isn't pretty and it isn't modern. It is a just plain ugly dress that fits poorly. And where is the uproar over the cost?? Where are you hypocrites now?

oh- and while I'm at it- if you have cankles, that is a TERRIBLE length for the dress. Shorter or longer, but not at the lower knee. She needs a much better stylist than the person advising her now.

she is so much more than just an outfit, she seems like a fantastic woman. the outfit looks great though which is just an added bonus.

Big frump is what I thought. The dress actually made Michelle look fat, if not pregnant. Not to mention the colour is a big wash-out and did nothing to Michelle's complexion. Big thumbs down. I thought Jill Biden looked great. Michelle should have taken fashion cues from her.

Elegant and classy. She has to walk a fine line. She doesn't want to be too trendy, nor does she want to come off as frumpy. I think she looked great. Totally befitting a First Lady.

They put us in a deep recession, raise prices, job loss, etc–and guess what?! Obama comes in and miraculously fixes everything and he is seen as a Saint & Savior!

People always care about what a figure wears, says, does and thinks. That's just how it is. I hated this yellow dress because it was too old and too loose. I hated her evening dress too. That silly ass thing on her shoulder is what made it ugly. i wanted to cut it off. She's usually so fierce with her outfits too…
