The folks at home were more interested in watching Simon Cowell shred people's misguided hopes and dreams than watching the Prez and First Lady dance at the Inauguration Ball.
American Idol won over audiences with a 12.5 rating/18 share, which was actually still a 25% decrease from last year's ratings. That's a quarter of AI's former viewers who finally got bored of the reality TV show competition.
But Obama still performed a healthy 9.4 rating/14 share.

The Neighborhood ball was a wonderful show full of talented performances. Beyonce, and Stevey Wonder were phenomenal. It was the perfect culmination of my all-day T.V. watching.
