Fox 13 morning anchor Russell Rhodes from Tampa Bay got a beat down when he stupidly attempted to resist an officer trying to arrest him for a very obvious DUI.
An off-duty deputy spotted Rhodes driving recklessly in a parking garage at 10:15pm on Friday night. According to the police report, Rhodes "was attempting to reverse his vehicle into other traffic after passing the exit token machine."
And when the deputy finally got him out of the car, his belt and pants were undone!
Rhodes tried to flee the deputy twice before he finally got a hold on him. The violence occurred when Rhodes tried to yank his car keys from the deputy. And that's when he got tossed to the ground! And arrested, of course.
Rhodes was taken to the hospital for his facial injuries and released on a $500 bail.
Don't drive drunk, y'all.
At least he gave a fierce mugshot!

Milk was the BEST movies i have ever seen. I live in Tampa Bay, so there is a lot of coverage about this story. I REALLY think their should be a 'police brutality' investigation here. I mean, come on…he looks like he got the shit beat out of him. The story says that "he was thrown to the ground by an off-duty officar when he tried to snatch his keys back" - I'm sorry, but there is NO WAY that those facial injuries are from simply being "thrown to the Ground" No way - no how!I understand that you don't resist an officar with or without violence - Period. But this is WAYYY overboard! - Look at his face for Christ's sake- this was brutality!
Oh, BTW - I'm pretty sure that the yellow stuff on his face is iodine - not mustard! - I think this because he was taken to the hospial to get his injures treated BEFORE he was taken to the police station and before his mugshot. The hospital staff, obviously cleaned up the wounds with iodine. That is exactly what iodine looks like on your skin.

I live in Tampa also, and this story is a bunch of BS! How can someone be arrested for opposing/obstructing an officer w/o violence, be "taken to the ground, to be handcuffed" and come out looking like that? How does a curb give a man a black eye like that? Come on, that officer beat his ass for being a local celebrity. Being in the public eye, I can see that someone drunk or not might panic and freak out. I can understand that maybe things were blown out of proportion when a un-uniformed off-duty deputy came to him at night in or even near a parking garage in Channelside to tell him to stop his car? People get car jacked there, robbed, and he was expected to stop and cooperate w/ someone flashing a dumb badge?? Hell anyone can get a badge.
And for them to write "he had his pants unbuttoned, and belt undone?" How many guys do you know after eating or drinking get in the car and unbutton their belts/pants to be comfortable? Or maybe he took a leak before getting in the car? If he was caught whackin it in his car, say that. If some dude was in the passenger seat blowin in the wind…say that. If he had a hooker getting busy…for God sakes SAY IT! Dont write some dumb ass crap that leaves people to guess on their own. I live in Channelside in Tampa and I saw the aftermath of all this. The TPD and HCSD are shady as fuck ESPECIALLY in the Channelside/Ybor area. They WOULD DEFINITELY beat someone and try to cover it up like he was just thrown to the ground and resisted arrest. I hope it was all on tape and the Sheriff's office and TPD get sued big time.
