1000 of those will also be in Hillsboro, OR., just outside of Portland.

Has anyone else noticed that when one big employer announces they're laying off "x" thousands of people, others typically follow like lemmings?

      Stop the hemorrhaging!!!!!!!

Thanks MYS, I was just coming to add that too. We're losing a lot of jobs in this area. Nike, Intel and Adidas are the primary employers out here and they're all laying people off. Scary times. If you've got a job right now, even if it's a bad one, keep it, because the chances of finding something else are almost nil.

I have many friends in the D2 building. I was already laid off from there but was lucky enough to find another job within the company. I know what they are going thru.
I hope many of them take redeployment and find jobs within the company like I did.

Oh, definitely. I just relocated back to the area after spending the last 5 years in Ohio. I left my good, solid job of almost 4 years to come back and go back to single-digit pay at a convenience store.

Definitely not a great job, but I'm hanging onto it for dear life! It's a wonder what a love for a place will make you do!

Please pray our new President cuts taxes accross the board for everyone, and cuts our bloated government into half. Regan did it, and he should follow suit. Maybe this will help stimulate our economy again.

The only thing keeping Intel afloat is Apple. PC sales have cratered, while Apple sales are through the roof.

This is just the beginning unfortunately.
