Why Is Michael Cera Being All Diva and Shiz?
Has success gone to his head?
Back in November, Fox Searchlight signed a deal to make cult TV show Arrested Development into a big screen movie.
But, in a recent interview, Michael "George Michael Bluth" Cera insisted that the project is still in a very early stage.
Cera described the Arrestedmovie as "more hypothetical than people think".
Uhm, it doesn't sound very hypothetical to us!
"There's no script or anything, so the movie, I think, is more hypothetical than people think," said the rising film star to MTV.
And when asked if he was "holding out" on committing to reprise his TV role for the movie, he responded, "I'd possibly play, I'd possibly put the script in my shredder. I may buy a shredder. People have asked me about it more than I've heard about it [in an official capacity] but I'd be very interested to see what the story is with it."
We'd be more worried for the movie if Jason Bateman was pulling this asshole-y shiz!
An Arrested film can be made without Cera, right????

Oh heck no. Cere is a key character in the show. And whole cast is. Can't be done without any of them. Besides Cera is just being his usual sarcastic self. Seriously, he is as far from a Hollywood diva as they come.

Yeah, Mr Cera is necessary for the film to happen… I mean, so much of what was left hanging was the unresolved tension between him and Maeby, now that they're not cousins anymore. And Arrested Development is one of the most brilliant things to emerge from the past millennium - if he were to put that in the shredder, I'd be seriously confused. After all, wasn't he just in nick and nora's infinite playlist? Who's he to be snooty about films? Jesus, Cera, know what's good for you.
I think is quite normal he wants to read the script before accepting!

arrested development doesn't work without george michael. but it's his choice and i can understand why he may not wanna do it. he probably has other movie offers and he might not want to spend his time on a project that'll keep him typecasted as the awkward teenager. i hope he decides to do it though…i'd love to see the movie!

I hope he does the movie but maybe they can get around it otherwise — I don't know. The show was FANTASTIC and a movie would be GREAT but I think the entire cast should be in it…who knows?!
There's no reason for Michael Cera to not do the movie - it's not taking him back. It's not like Arrested Development was an uber-popular ABC show or something — it's a cult TV show (like you said) which is in line with what Michael Cera does…WTF?!
