An evil, heartless, clearly insane man went on a killing rampage in a Belgian child day care center today in the cit of Dendermonde, just outside of Brussels.
The murderer, who has thus far been unidentified, killed two children and a female worker and sending 10 others to the hospital.
The man was caught by police shortly after he fled the scene of the crime by bicycle.
If they don't have the death penalty in Belgium, then they better institute it for this vile subhuman!

This is why the death penalty need to be inacted everywhere round the world. I think people need to die the way they commit their heinous crimes. How dare he/ How dare he/them/us! I am so sick of these"people" killing folks, and sitting in jail, lifting weights, having gay sex, getting an education, watching TV, sheltered and eating, on the tax payers money! Why do they get that kind of life? Why can't we just have a town square again? Why can't people be hanged , drawn, and quartered? When will we just give them to a fireing squad. I'm from Belgium and I'm strongly against death penalty! It's really sad and sick what happened today, only 30 miles from were I live. Everybody's first reaction is to kill the fucking bastard, but that is really no solution…
We know he's a psychiatric patient, so probably he'll go to court, he won't be sent to jail but to a mental institution and will be free as a bird after 10 years. Sad, but the truth…

Two children and one caretaker dead already (the report that a third child had died doesn't seem to be correct), and there are still 10 children in the hospitals around Dendermonde. Their conditions are now stable.
The 28 year old murderer had his face painted in black and white, and, according to recent news, he wore a bulletproof vest and carried a backpack with several knives and an axe. He went into the daycare to "ask for directions", went straight to the baby's corner and started to stab everyone around him. Then he took his bicycle and ran off. He was arrested after a short time in a grocery store. The murderer was no unknown to the court and apparently had a psychiatric history. He appears to have been under the influence of drugs and/or heavy medication. The death penalty doesn't exist here in Belgium, and I'm no fan of it either, but in cases like these I sure am tempted. This is something you just can't grasp. All kids are under the age of three, one only six months old. You just don't harm innocent, defenseless children. This guy deserves the worst punishment ever.

This is so tragic. I am a kindergarten teacher of 17 years now, and when I hear of tragic stories like this or of the abuse of children I just want to be handed a baseball bat and given 5 min. alone in a locked room with any son of a bitch who does any harm to children.

WOA-FINALLY someone has acknowledged the human EVIL of these "tragedies. Not once have I ever read in print, newspapers, People mag, etc that these killers are EVIL monsters. We got pretty horrible situations of that kind : first the poor julie and melissa, then the little stacy and natalie then the five kids killed by their mom and then this…. Wow, I understand everyone's anger, but when someone has a mental illness, they are not CHOOSING to harm, the have NO CONTROL. Not to mention, 95% of murders are committed by SANE individuals. If there was more education on this subject then you may have empathy for the millions of others who spend their entire lives recovering from mental illness. You may also have acceptance so that others would seek treatment without feeling shame. This incident was a tragedy but when the media exploits the story without educating the viewer about mental illness, society continues to discriminate. Your fear, which is fueled by the media, and ignorance needs to be addressed. This situation is NOT black and white.

true, but I live in Belgium & I know exactly what's going to happen: they will lock him up in an institution (hopefully for the rest of his life) without getting any other punishment. He won't even go to jail!! He's going to be taken care of for the rest of his life, and he's just gonna think what a hero he is for succeeding in his 'mission'. This might sound a little harsh but I don't think he deserves to live, someone who slaughters the weakest and most innocent members of society like animals should get killed like an animal as well.

His make-up though, they think is based on the joker's make-up, white with black eyes. He had a paper in his jacket with the name of another day care center written on it when he left the crimescene. So he was probably on his way to another one, and there are rumors that he was also carrying and ax!

I do not think that the capital punishment must be restored here in Belgium. For me, to kill these people would decrease us on their level… But it is certain that these people who will pass all their life in prison should not profit from normal conditions of detention contrary in Marc Dutroux for example who has (it appears) an access to Internet in prison. It is not something of very important but I think that it should not profit from it, it is not normal because the goal of prison is to deprive of freedom the prisoners prison is to deprive of freedom the prisoners and to cut all the contacts to them which they can have with outside with share with their family.

I honestly cried when i read this. There is so much violence in the world but it seems to be getting worse and worse where a psycho targets little children who have done nothing wrong. Seriously, what is wrong with people today.
I forgot one point. This man should spend the rest of his life in jail. Death penalty is too easy for people, that means they get away with it. If they spend the rest of their lives in jail they have to think about what they have done and be haunted by it their whole lives. I find it sick to believe that this was done by someone a year younger than i am! I said it before and i'll say it again, i can't believe the amount of violence capable in this world, and they keep getting younger and younger.

What I was trying to tell you was that this story makes it very difficult for people to accept treatment (for a mental disorder) because our society discriminates and stereotypes. My brother has schizophrenia and I will not go into details but how would you like it if you were in your senior year of college with your whole life ahead of you only to have a chronic mental disorder force upon you. It's sad that you have to experience mental illness first hand in order to empathize.

A couple of the kids left the hospital today. And that it happend here in our small country makes it worse. you should imagine my parents thoughts. I don't think they would ever send me or one of my sisters to a center again.
I live in holland, close to belgium and it broke my heart. I heard on the radio that the man was let in cause he wanted to ask something to someone and went straight to the room where -babies- were. The two kids dead are babies, a daycare worker was also killed.
The man put makeup on that resembled The Joker (batman). He's apparantly mentally ill and had another two knifes, an axe and a fake gun in his backpack (along with the address of a second daycare centre). Luckily police immediately sent surveillance to every surrounding daycare and school in the area and police scouted every street corner so he was caught just a few hours after he commited his crime.
This is horrible, thank god the police acted in the way they did, they did an extremely good job on securing that there wouldn't be any other attack. My heart goes out to the 10 people that were all criticaly wounded. I'm against death penalty and do not wish it upon the man who did this. He needs severe help. I hope they lock him up in a facility for the rest of his life.
