As the 2008 awards are handed out, that answer appears to be, hellz no.
The uplifting tear-jerker won another award this weekend.
It won the top prize from the Producers Guild of America at their big awards shindig on Saturday.
Congrats!

Slumdog was good, but I just BENJAMIN BUTTON and IT WAS the most thoughful movie since Forrest Gump. I hope The Curious Case of Benjamin Button WINS!!
It's a good movie, but overrated. The story is told in flashbacks, and feels like a 10 year old American movie.

I'll see any of danny boyle's movie. He's films are very wordly and touches the rifts and turmoils of the world that exist beyond hollywood land. 28 days later, the beach, slumdog M are fine examples.

I have to watch this movie. It's gotten so many good reviews that I'm curious.
I know i'm in the minority here, but i saw this movie, twice actually, i really enjoyed it, but i didnt feel as though it was as amazing as everyone has said it is.
it is very well made but there is just something missing in the story for me….i think it's the love story, it's a bit cliche`

All I can say is that that is a fantastic movie. I can totally see why it keeps winning. I enjoyed every moment of it.

I agree about Leo. I love Richard Jenkins, but there wasn't anything too special about his performance in The Visitor. Leo should have that spot. But, I was stoked to see Michael Shannon nominated for his role in Revolutionary Road.
slumdog is overrated…but it will win cause most hollywood movies are trash nowdays anyway

Re: brofoski – says the person who probably likes the Scary Movie franchise……some people just don't have taste, and that's why this movie wasn't wide-released in the first place: they thought people wouldn't appreciate it because there's no explosions and crappy slapstick "comedy." Slumdog was an awesome movie, and I say this from being reluctantly dragged to the theater to see it and walking out wanting to watch it again

Slumdog is not a very good movie at all.
Benjamin Button is the film to beat and Batman should have been on the list, not Slumdog.
I guess making a billion dollars is not good enough to be nominated for an Oscar.

I didn't cry but it was a terrific movie. So was The Wrestler. And The Reader.

I know the guy…Jamal…he plays a character in this Brittish tv show 'Skins'.
But uhmm, I'm pretty sure that this film has flaws.

I just got finished watching this movie and even my kids (13 and 17) loved it. It's nice to see an orginal story for once.

Its not that great of a movie. Just your average movie .I dont know what all the fuss is about. Its a "only worth watching once" kinda movie. where Benjamin Button is a watch several times kinda movie so NO i dont think its the one to beat!
