Death At A Slipknot Concert
What a way to go!
A 29-year-old man died this weekend while at the Slipknot concert at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, IA.
Cory Nickels collapsed on the concourse level following the concert.
When the concert was over at 10:30pm, Nickels was already starting to feel ill. He had a rescue personnel assist him, but shortly after he suffered a cardiac arrest.
Nickels was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead.
Sgt. Ray Mabbitt from the Council Bluffs Police Criminal Investigation Division said an autopsy has been scheduled for today.
He added that friends of Nickel's have stated his family has a history of heart problems.
If you're having heart problems, uhmm…
Maybe a Slipknot concert is not the best place for you????

Poor guy. I love Slipknot. The people from the band I've met are some of the nicest, most harmless people ever, and I'm sure the band is devastated.
I'd go ahead and say it's safe to say that the activity in the pit led to the death. The heat of the pit as well as people with zero pit etiquette who shove too hard can really be hard on a body. A good pit full of people looking out for their neighbor is the best pit, because everyone has a good time…but sometimes people get way too territorial and malicious.
I've been in a Slipknot pit and walked out unscathed, and it was one of the most fun experiences ever. I'm a small female and can enjoy a pit with the rest of 'em. The only time I've ever been hurt is when the people started getting mean, and that was in the weaker pits anyway.

wow.. that sounds like chastising him for going to a show of a band he obviously loved as holding him responsible for his cardiac arrest. He died so young of health problems he shouldn't have had the misfortune of dealing with at such an early age and that's sad, leave it at that.
Maybe its just drugs. many drugs can cause heart failures.

I'm not a huge fan of slipknot but i got a free ticket and i must say this concert was AWESOME!! i feel bad for the guy tho at least he got one last hurrah i guess

wow that really doesn't surprise me.. I went to a slipknot concert this past summer… in Toronto..and it's INSANE!!!!! I met most of the guys, and they are great..im sure their hearts are going out to the family of the concert go'er!! but ya man…what a way to go…
Not to be disrespectful of death–especially to younger people, but 29 is too old to be loving that kind of music. That is for 8-20 yr old little angry boys.

I just lost my hubby to a missed heart problem that he had had since birth, we went to concerts all the time, all kinds of music, well not all kinds we both hated the hip hop crap rap ya know all the top music of now
