      …maybe there were too many stores in the first place!! Besides, everytime I went into a Home Depot for something they NEVER had it and when I asked someone who worked there they didn't have a clue as to what I was talking about. Bloody useless! I quit going to Home Depot years ago and stick with my local hardware store. They ALWAYS have what I need, they know what they are talking about and the prices are the same. I'm not sad to see it go.

      Read the entire post Perez, it is EXPO by Home Depot that is closing, you make it seem as if regular Home Depot stores are the ones, closing. Even at the bottom of the press release in bold lettering it says, NOTE: No orange box Home Depots are closing. Te gusta el chisme and the drama PErezito…

      Perhaps I'm wrong, but it almost seems that you can barely stifle your glee at others losing their jobs, their livelihoods. You run an entertainment blog! Most people that visit your site do so as a diversion from "real" news, which given the current economy is usually bad news. You are no authority on business and most of the layoffs you report are not connected to the entertainment industry. Please stick to what you know. If we want to get the latest on the economic climate in America, we'll look to a more credible, more academic source.

      It's EXPO - part of the Home Depot Co. - they've already closed most of the EXPO stores and are now closing what's left - not Home Depot orange box stores - you made it sound much worse than it is :0(

      I worked for Home Depot in the early 90's when customer service was drilled into our skulls and salaries were decent - now you have inexperienced people, they don't pay the salaries like they used to - and customer service is pretty much non-existent. It is a chore - so many times I need something and I'll go anywhere else other than home depot. They dropped their standards, and it hurt them. Workers on cell phones, they walk the other way when they see a customer approach…so Home Depot - you reap what you sow

      if any of you idiots actually red the article you would see its the expo design centers mostly that are closing not the orange box home depot stores and i have many friends that work at Expo who have been hit by this and all are wonderful and knowledgable of there job. how about have some compassion for those that have to suffer because of our economic crisis.

      Mentalist…. There are not 15 store detectives in ANY Home depot. They have what are called loss prevention investigators and assett protection managers. There is one loss prevention investigator per store (or a least there were) and an asset protection manager in most stores. However all assett protection manager positions were cut. My husband was one before the law offs. APM's save the store hundreds of thousands dollars per year in employee theft. Loss prevention investigators do the job of catching the shop liftters. To those of you who think it is great that home depot is laying off and closing their EXPO stores obviously have not been affected in any way by the economy. It is not great to see any store have to cut jobs or close stores because that further shows us how bad our economy is doing and how much worse it is getting. My husband had told me that HD was actually one of the stores doing better when they economy started going down, however as it got worse and worse it started doing worse. The only store making a profit right now is Wal-Mart. That says something terrible about the state of our economy.
