Taco Bell to Pay the Chihuahua Masterminds $42 Million!
The creators of the infamous Taco Bell chihuahua got $42 million richer!
An appeals court has ordered Taco Bell to pay the creative whiz kids that chunk of cash now.
Taco Bell and TBWA Chiat/Day, the people who handled the chihuahua advertising campaign, have been fighting about who should pay the chihuahua guys since 2003.
And, unfortunately for the Bell, the courts found in favor of the ad guys.
A Michigan jury in 2003 found that Irvine-based Taco Bell didn't properly pay the dog's creators when it launched its $500 million advertising blitz in the 1990s that popularized the phrase "¡Yo quiero Taco Bell!" After the verdict, Taco Bell blamed advertising agency TBWA Chiat/Day for stiffing the dog's creators. Taco Bell sued the ad agency over responsibility for the $42 million judgment.

Why is Taco Bell trying to sue the ad agencies? They need to just fork it up, it was THEIR advertisement and THEY got richer from it - F*ck Taco Bell and their shiteous processed Cheese tacos.
That ad campaign has cost chihuahua rescue thousands of dollars and endless heartbreak. People actually bought the dogs thinking they could TALK. Rescue ended up with hundreds of dogs due to Taco Bell.
The money should have gone to dog rescue.
my mom used to work for TBWA/Chiat/Day…It's very unfortunate that they did not compensate the talented group who created that ad. It was the agency's bread and butter for quite some time along with the famous Absolut ads.
not surprising tho..they never really treated their employees with the kindness they deserved.
