Cell phone carrier Sprint announced that they will be cutting 8,000 jobs.
And, Philips Electronics announced they will be cutting 6,000 jobs.

More horrific news for the unemployment statistics as the NYSE continues to rise. The CEO's care only about themselves and "to hell with everyone else".

but if you keep reporting all the bad news, you are part of the problem, not the solution. What the hell is wrong with good news??? My parents company is hiring…are you reporting that?

Folks - these are only the initial layoffs ~ we have in no way seen the ramifications of this yet ~ many, many more home foreclosures, the unemployment ranks will swell.

And the "trickle down" will not work, so thank god Obama got in. I work with very wealthy lawyers (who, although they are the ones who would be effected, are running about 90% Democrat, by the way), and after their portfolios took a beating on Wall Street, NO ONE is spending money.

I do admire these men/women I work with - they make well enough money to be part of the tax increase ~ yet they are the true patriots and still vote for the country ~ they vote Democrat.
(thank god I'm Verizon and not Sprint ~ though Sprint has always pretty much sucked IMO)

Maybe it's because Sprint sucks and everyone I know who had them switched carriers.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but it almost seems that you can barely stifle your glee at others losing their jobs, their livelihoods. You run an entertainment blog! Most people that visit your site do so as a diversion from "real" news, which given the current economy is usually bad news. You are no authority on business and most of the layoffs you report are not connected to the entertainment industry. Please stick to what you know. If we want to get the latest on the economic climate in America, we'll look to a more credible, more academic source.
