Going Strong

It's nice to see former President Jimmy Carter doing so well!

The 84-year-old even made it out to his book signing at Barnes & Noble in NYC on Monday.

There, he signed copies of his latest book, We Can Have Peace in the Holyland.

At his age we doubt he probably wrote the whole book himself, or even most of it, but at least he's out promoting it!

I'm not a fan of Jimmy Carter but just because he's 84 doesn't mean he can't write a friggin' book. Perez….you're a douche.

    2. 2

Jimmy Carter is the man!!! So smart! YES! He wrote the book. Hopefully Obama will use him as a middle east advisor.

    3. 3

      Is that Andy Griffith?

    4. 4

Who's book is more enlighting his or Perezs'!!!!

    5. 5

you think people over 80 can't write? you doubt he "wrote the whole book himself?" Really? Do you doubt Georgia O'Keeffe was painting in her 90s too? What about Picasso? What about …never mind. what an insipid and demeaning remark.

    6. 6

My Grandma is 90 years old and very capable of writting more than a few books on her lifes experiences. No one would have to do it for her. Don't underestimate the elderly Mario!

    7. 7

Carter is lying, cheating mouthpiece for his Arab and Muslim backers.

He is the most pro-terrorist ex-politician in American history. At least Benedict Arnold knew (and admitted) he was committing treason to help the British. Carter is pretending to be an American hero or legend but in reality he is helping dictators and tyrants because they donate money to his morally bankrupt organization.

    8. 8

I like him because of his involvement with Habitat for Humanity.

    9. 9

This is the same left wing jerk Jimmy "I'd Never Lie to You" Carter who supposedly settled the Mid-East problem during his presidency but did not. It was all show. Who the hell is this loser to continue with this. He couldn't do it 30 years ago and he still can't make changes over there. They guys have been fighting for 400 years. What makes he think he can do anything. I tell ya his frickin giant Ego makes him think that. Go away Jimmy back to the peanut farm.

      Re: BBBoricua
Yeah, and all the houses he help built are decaying and falling apart. This guy is a goofball. You think things are bad now??? Talk to someone who lived during the Carter era.

    11. 11

peace in the holyland?………and maybe someday he can learn to pronounce the word nuclear correctly………..both are doubtful….in this lifetime

    12. 12

perez that doesn't make sense! u are ”surprised” he's out promoting his book yet you think he didn't write it himself? If he has the energy to go out and promote the book and do the meet n greet, surely he can SIT with a pen in his hand and think out a book silly … lol god . he's old, not incompetent….

    13. 13

most under-rated president of our lifetime

    14. 14

      Re: the last star
      #4 Hmmmm, tough call…. not!!

    15. 15

He may not have been the best President but he is a stellar human being. I admire him for all that he has done for others since hanging up his Presidential hat. That man has a heart of gold.

    16. 16

Re: JembaBemba – At least he tried!!! I don't think he picked the materials, he helped them build the homes and maybe inspired other to do similar acts of kindness. Those that deal with the budgets usually buy the cheapest stuff and pocket the rest of the $$$….
Besides, it's my opinion. You are entitled to yours too…..

    17. 17

      Re: jenmcn – bahahahaaa

    18. 18

Why would you be so ageist and make a comment like that? He's a former president for pete's sake!! Why wouldn't he be capable of writing?

    19. 19

Re: BBBoricua – I wish he would build me a house on the ocean!!!

    20. 20

God youre a fucking idiot. Why would you say something like that? Educate yourself doucheball.

    21. 21

good for him…I'm going to buy to see what he has to say, because I certainly don't believe there can be peace in the Holyland…these people are too vested in war and fighting…..its like playground bullys that never grew up…

      23

Now this is a real DICKHEAD president that sold the USA down the drain. He should just shut his peanut sucking face along with that dull thing call his wife.

    24. 24

Re: the last star – He will. I got some contacts…
but I get to go too! LOL

    25. Toby says – reply to this

      25

This man doesn't get along with any of the presidents, past or present. He supports Hamas and needs to go back to peanut farming! Don't care how old he is, he was a lousy president and needs to shut-up and retire!!!

    26. 26

Reagan stepped in to office and the hostages were released. Fuckers knew they had a real President in there that wouldn't fuck around with them. Carter tore this Country up, like a typical Democrat.

    27. 27

Re: Perez Hilton – askan isreali……they might beg to differ…..hamas…on the other hand…

    28. 28

Can't stand JC and he was a horrible president. I've read the Clintons despise him as well.

    29. 29

      Re: BBBoricua – hey beba!

    30. Bizzo says – reply to this

      30

Perez, you are such a douche. The man is extreamly intelligent as well as agile for his age. There is no reason he can't write a book on his own. Hes not an idiot like urself

    31. 31

Re: BBBoricua – You didn't think I would go by myself did ja?

    32. 32

Blast from the past-man talk about sucking in the 70's.This man was the reason the 1970's sucked. This impotant fool is the reason the mideast is so fucked up and Iran is about to have a nuclear wepon!

    33. 33

Just because you're old doesn't mean you can't do ANYTHING lol. Perez you'll be lucky if you still have a career by the time you're 35

    34. 34

      Re: M*I*A*R – hi miar

    35. 35

jimmy carter is a terrible person.
he should stop writing books about a situation he knows nothing about

    36. 36

      Re: mamajud – hey mama

    37. 37

Jimmy Carter was a great president. He wrote the book & he's smart and not out of it for his age either. Do more research Perez.

    38. zalie says – reply to this

      38

Perez, first the enema thing and now this. I am so disappointed in you this week. In addition to being a nasty anti-Semite and having incredibly poor manners, he was an embarrassingly bad President. Eee-yew!

    39. 39

Why do you say he did not write the whole book. Just because he is 84 does not mean a thing. He may not have been a good president but he is a smart guy. Besides I know a few people 80 and over who work full time and they do their work all by them self. Perez you are so off your game. It is getting harder to look at your site.

    40. 40

perez can't believe carter had a shadow writer b/c he didn't write his own piece of shit book

    41. 41

JIMMY WAS ALMOST AS BAD A PRESIDENT AS G W BUSH AND B HUSSEIN OBAMA!

    42. 42

Re: mamajud – WTF kind of book is that anyway, all sideways and shit?

    43. 43

GIRL…YOU DISSED THE CLINTONS AT THE INAUGURAL…..WHAT UP WITH THAT BITCH?

    44. 44

Carter is a joke and a disgrace to our country.Allowing american citizens to be held hostage a year and a half.Liberal j-off

    45. 45

      Re: M*I*A*R

George W. Bush is a democrat too?!?

    46. 46

Aside from being the only President in the last 40 years who never publicly stated his love for his country, I have no respect for this anti-semite. No respect at all.

    47. 47

That looked like half a book at first! lol

    48. 48

This is a good man, who has done wonderful things since being president. He is the classic example of grace. I really admire him.

    49. 49

Adding - Jimmy Carter has made such a contribution to society.
      -
What have the Bush's done? Build libraries dedicated to . . . themselves.

Re: PUAinNYC – How they wish he was.

    51. 51

Re: uncle eldon – I second that!!!!!!!!!

    52. 52

Philip Roth is 75 and puts a book out almost every year. By your logic he he will need a ghost writer in a year or 2. John Updike was writing strong till the end also and he was 76. Doris Lessing, writes fiction and non fiction and is now 89. What was your point Perez!

    53. 53

    54. 54

      Re: LULU~* – he's a putz…..we agree on peta though ;)

    55. 55

Re: LULU~* – Plain and simple, you are uninformed. Google "Jimmy Carter Bias" or "Carter Library" and you can read a little about something you have been writing about.

Factual information is helpful in your daily life, not just these boards. Take a moment to inform yourself before you embarrass yourself in a not so anonymous way.

Not aimed at you, but I'm frankly amazed most people can dress themselves in the morning let alone have informed opinions of world politics.

    56. 56

I'd totally due that chick in the back looking at the camera.

    57. 57

      Re: M*I*A*R – lol

    58. 58

What nonsense, Perez, about him not being able to write the whole book himself at his age. Of course he wrote the book himself. The man is full of beans and quite capable of writing a whole encyclopedia if wants! Shame on you Perez, for always making fun of old people. You are an ageist, and yet you hate homophobs.

    59. 59

I could give a fuck about Jimmy Carter's treasonous ass. He's easily the most shittastic president we've ever had.

    60. 60

Re: AlexReager – Rock on! You're so right!

    61. 61

      LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

    62. 62

Re: LULU~* – Hey Lulu, it's "Bushes" not "Bush's." Maybe if you went to some of those Bush libraries, you might know that.

    63. 63

Jimmy Carter needs to stop writing books as he thinks that Hamas is a reputable government. Why doesn't he just starting kicking some Jewish people while he's at it.

    64. 64

Perez, Perez, Perez! So what if a man almost three times your age can write better than you? It not only gives YOU something to aspire to, but it doesn't matter. We love you anyway. Hell, I don't go to Jimmy Carter's site everyday.

    65. 65

Re: AlexReager – you are so full of shit.

    66. 66

Jesus that is such age discrimination, Perez! I wonder what you would have said if somebody stated you couldn't write a book since your gay. That's JUST as obnoxious! Shame on you.

    67. 67

      Re: PUAinNYC – STFU ALREADY!

    68. 68

Your madre should be ASHAMED of raising such a brat. Is your whole family as shallow and stupid as you? You seem to think anybody over the age of 30 (except for Brangelina) is a waste of oxygen. I truly hope you become incontinent and impotent before you're 40 as payback for the gross disrespect you show older people.

    69. 69

Old people can cleary still write. Carter is also cleary an anti-semite who was bad for America and should not be trusted. IHis take on the Middle East is meaningless. He's damn near a Hamas sympathizer. 'm shocked at the Carter fans on this site. I've never met any in real life.

    70. 70

Re: AlexReager – Just because you find it on Google doesn't mean it is fact and it definitely doesn't mean you are any more "informed" than someone who likes Carter. So Lulu doesn't share your low opinion of Carter. BFD.

    71. 71

Re: M*I*A*R – The hostages were already released when he was sworn in but he wanted to wait so HE could say tell America as if he was the real reason. Were you out smoking a joint that day in class?

    72. 72

Re: JakeRyan – Well Carter sure as fuck wasn't the reason. He can shove habitat for humanity up his ass.

    73. 73

Carter is a terorrist sympathizer and spouts typical left-wing rhetoric to matters he has absolutely no clue about. His heart might be in the right place but his head is up his ass. He has no place in the international arena and I am not sure why he is even still relevant today.

    74. 74

Jimmy Carter came into office in a situation that anyone would find difficult to solve–sounds familiar, right? If Obama struggles in his endeavors, then history/supporters might be critical too.

Being a Georgia resident, I can't help but have a certain affection for our prez, but it's not just that–the man has it together. He recently spoke at my university, and it was amazing to hear his degree of commitment to human rights. He might not have been the best president, but he's one of the best ex-presidents we've ever had. Supporters of "middle eastern regimes" don't usually get Nobel Prizes, FYI.

    75. 75

All the comments about Carter's shitty job as President are right on. No wonder he got voted out after one term and the guy that beat him won re-election in a landslide. Carter was the worst president and has become nothing but an apologist for terrorists in the last four years. Even his former staffers are repulsed by him. He should just shut the fuck up.

    76. 76

I give obama a year to overtake Jimmy as the WORST PRESIDENT EVER!

    77. 77

Of course he wrote his own book, you dumbass.

Watch "Man From Plains" — it's a great documentary about Jimmy Carter's life as an author.

    78. Tamia says – reply to this

      78

He supposedly has written 21 of his 23 books entirely.
Did YOU write most of YOURS? Oh, that's right. Well, how much of your single book did you write? And when are you running for president?

    79. 79

HE BROKERED A PEACE TREATY BETWEEN ISRAEL AND EGYPT THAT IS STILL IN PLACE TODAY!
      .
HE ALSO IS A TRUE PROFILE IN COURAGE AS HIS POSITION IS NOT POPULAR!

    80. plano says – reply to this

      80

WORST PRESIDENT WE HAVE EVER HAD (well, so far),

Looking at that Stimulus package, looks like we have the second coming of peanut head in the making.

    81. 81

Perez you are showing your lack of education. Carter not only wrote the book he won the Nobel Peace prize in 2002 for, "for his decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development" There is no one better to write a book on this subject. Perhaps you should read a couple books that have nothing to do with gossip. You are sounding a bit out of touch.

    82. 82

THIS GUY IS A HERO AND A ROCK STAR. I HOPE EVERYBODY REALIZES THE COURAGE AND DEDICATION TO AMERICA AND HUMANITY THIS MAN DISPLAYS. YOU WANT TO SEE A REAL PATRIOT? THIS IS THE MAN.

    83. 83

he said in and interview that he has been working on this book for 30 years.

    84. 84

What a load of crap. Carter is by far the worst US President EVER. We are STILL dealing with the fact that Carter knew nothing about economics or dealing with dictators. The ONLY thing he knew about was his nuclear subs… what a waste.

    85. 85

Perez, I love you…but sometimes you say the dumbest shit. THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK!!!! (like when you call people fat, duh)

    86. 86

He most certainly did write the book. He is a brilliant, active man who works tirelessly for social justice.

    87. 87

President Carter most certainly did write the book. He is a brilliant, active man who works tirelessly for social justice.

    88. 88

And you wrote your whole book yourself right? LOL
C'mon dude give him props for trying.

    89. 89

Re: AlexReager – Thank God somebody else "gets it" and sees Jimmy Carter for what he really is!

    90. 90

I saw Jimmy on the Daily Show last week. I think he's a wonderful man. I am glad to see 1 person thinks there can be peace in the Holy land.Maybe the trend will catch on Who Knows.

    91. 91

Jimmy was PRESIDENT, after being a peanut farmer, which is more than you Carter bashing morons will ever be JEALOUSY IS UGLY

    92. 92

Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, James Carter and Barack Obama: The best American Presidents EVER !!!!!!! President Lincoln would be a democrat today.

    93. 93

      AlexReager IS full of shit.
Jimmy Carter was the ONLY US President in recent history to have actually set foot in the occupied Palestinian territories and see for himself the brutality of Israel's illegal occupation in the West Bank and Gaza. And for that, Carter is labeled as "anti-Semitic" - just for believing that Israel's brutal, illegal occupation is no way to peace and only leads to resistance and violence on both sides. Let it not be forgotten that Israel, under the leadership of Netanyahu, actually FUNDED the creation of Hamas to counter the leading party at the time - the Palestinian Liberation Organization. Funny how the facts are re-written to portray Israel as an innocent victim. God bless Jimmy Carter for having the guts to speak the truth and the appreciation for common humanity to advocate long-denied, basic human rights for Palestinians.
