Buyers beware!
Some scoundrels out there are trying to scam unsuspecting wealthy individuals out of a lot of money in return for Oscar tickets.
In fact, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which organizes the Oscars, has just filed a complaint against a firm they claim is trying to sell illegal tickets to the event.
Court documents show that the Arizona-based firm Experience6 tried to sell tickets for up to $175,000.
WTF???? The Oscars are NOT worth that much!
The Academy claims that the shady firm tried to "charge otherwise unimaginable prices for their illicit tickets."
Apparently the high price is a result of the tickets being invitation-only. However, the tickets come with a contractual agreement not allowing them to be transferred.
As of yesterday, Experience6 did not explain how it got ahold of the tickets.
David W. Quinto, an attorney for the Academy, said "It is precisely because the Academy has been so effective in prohibiting the sale of tickets that the price has gone up. It's because of their scarcity."
"Regular" folks are allowed in, about 300 of them. Though they're only invited after being selected from a draw of over 20,000 applicants.

THe only fraud at the Oscars this year is the fact Leo and Kate and "Revolutionary Road" were snubbed but Whorealina and Brad ArmPitt were nominated for their mediocre performances. ALso Clint Eastwood was robbed of a nomination!
