Well, its made from Japanese selvedge denim that feels and looks raw but has been pre-washed and pre-shrunken so the indigo doesn’t rub off on your clothes. The button is plated with 18-karat gold, and the pockets are silk lined.

Tom Ford's customers, while they may be a bit less rich, are still going to buy these jeans. What Tom Ford has stressed in his men's line, which is what more designers should be doing for mesnwear, is the quality of fabric, the cuts, the finishes. It is these details that get people to buy higher end clothing in menswear (I'm talking REAL high end, not Gap vs Banana. Selvage denim is the best you get, and I assure you that the selvage from J.Crew is not of the same the quality (I've seen both), because while the process may be the same, the quality of materials simply cannot be on the scale that J. Crew has to manufacture, and very often, like with cashmere, when you get to the larger manufacturers, usually the items are conveniently mislabeled. You're also talking about a natural indigo dye, that's already pre-washed and the finishes are exquisite, Tom Ford hits it out of the park again.
