Grammy Woes
Award shows and their after parties are definitely feeling the effect of the shitty economy!
In fact, several insiders are already complaining of the scaled-down and lack of record company parties after the Grammys.
Warner Bros. has reportedly cut back on their celebrations.
One insider says, "Sony BMG may do a little bash for 100 people, but it's nothing on the scale of what they used to have. And if Universal does decide to do something, it will be really haphazard and last-minute."
If there's one party to go to, it seems it'll be EMI's after bash. They've gotten seven nominations for Coldplay and a few for Lady Antebellum, as well as Katy Perry's nod. The source adds, "It makes a little sense that they’re doing a bash, but the rest of it feels like more record company death of the world."
A rep for Sony BMG said "In this economic climate, it'd be inappropriate to have a big gala. We’d prefer to funnel right into artists directly."

all of you 'hollywood d listers going to these awards in the 'award season' from late december to end of march are a bunch of greedy pigs. going from one award show to another even though they are not nominated, making sure their pic is taken on the carpet, hitting 3 or 4 parties a night, making sure to hit the best swag places and stuff away next year staff presents. why should these places have parties for more than 100? out of the 100 maybe 2 will have been nominated. It's just terrible what's happening…and more inflation to come from Obama and his administration…they're doing a good job and driving us from Recession to Depression. Stimulus packages mean one things INFLATION…people need to wake up to that REALIZATION

fuck all major record companies, I am so glad to see them all die a slow, painful, deserved death. for almost 80 years these scumbags and greedy rats made millions while cheating artists from their hard earned money. they laughed at napster and itunes years ago thinking that NO ONE would ever buy a file for music, now who is doing the laughing?
I'll be watching for Lady Antebellum. I really think they are going to win the best new artist award…they should at least!!
