Even MORE job cuts at the coffee giants chain!

Starbucks announced on Wednesday that they are….

- Closing 300 stores
- Eliminating 6,000 store workers
and
- Laying off an additional 700 corporate jobs

It was only a matter of time!

OVER-SATURATION!!!!

In some cities, there are more than one Starbucks within one or two blocks of each other!

      Near downtown Houston, there are literally 2 Starbucks across the street from each other. As in, they're within 40 feet of each other - just cross the street. Thanks to a comedian's stand-up skit, we call it "The End of the World." Like, that's where the world ends - downtown Houston.

      in vancouver there are 2 starbucks across the street from each other - that's where they got the idea from for the "best in show" yuppie couple.

      In the town I grew up in (Woodinville WA.) there are three in one parking lot! Three blocks up the street there is another one and a few miles after that one more. I love Starbucks but I get what you are saying.

      Fresno is the most Starbucks saturated city California, and they're only closing two! I moved from there to Sacramento and it sucks not having one every where I look. Ugh. Driving.

      In the town I live in, within a two block area, there is a Starbucks in the Target, a Starbucks in the Barnes & Noble, a Starbucks store with drive-thru and a regular walk-in Starbucks. Is that necessary? Less than 2 miles away, there is a Starbucks in a Vons grocery and a full Starbucks store across the street. Whatcha wanna bet one of those stores gets closed?

      i can am about 5 minutes walking distance to about 5 different starbucks, there are two in my building. I don't even have THAT many Tim Hortons in range of me.

      Tell me about it -I live in Vegas and in my nieghborhood there are 4 Starbucks in like a 1 mile radius!!! Seriously!!!!!!

      I'm sorry as I love hanging out in coffee shops. I can see why they're going under. 1) Their coffee is almost undrinkable (even the mild roast) 2) Their prices are ridiculously high esp. for the lattes, etc. and in this economy? 3) Their baked goods are barely mediocre. 4) Even their Redbush tea which I normally love is not that great there, some brand I don't like.

      Oh ya, where I live there are three Starbucks within about 200 yards of each other, two in the mall (one being in the book store) and then one in the Safeway just across from the Mall. Half a mile from the mall there is a fourth Starbucks.

      Thank God! I kid you not, in Jacksonville, FL there are 2 Starbucks literally less than half a football field away from each other. They are right across the street from each other.

      I'm a Starbucks partner, and I hope my store doesn't close! (I don't think it will, though). I can tell you, though, that there are a lot of great people who work here, and it's very sad that so many of these great people will go.

      funny. because here in my town, where there are no jobs and the economy is going strait down the shitter, the are building a starbucks. we dont have one here, and i'm pretty sure not many people will patronize this place, what with all the REAL coffee houses around our area. i'm just trying to figure out why they are closing all these stores and laying off all these workers, but still continue to build there stores. DOES THIS MAKE SENSE TO ANYONE ELSE?
