American Idol Says It's Sorry

Y'all be careful now!
American Idol has issued an apology over a little "misunderstanding" over some good ol' Southern lingo.
While holding auditions in Louisville, Kentucky, the Idol judges were treated to Mark Mudd's creative rendition of some country song called White Light (yeah, we don't know it either).
After soundly rejecting him, Mudd told the judges to "be careful," as in "y'all be careful now," but Paula forgot to take her chill-out pills that day so she freaked out, taking the Southern slang as a threat. Sure, the dude was a little weird, sporting a holster-like cell phone belt clip, but come on, his name is Mudd, and he's probably related to Brit Brit.
After realizing the awkward misunderstanding, AI issued the following apology:
"We apologize to any viewers who were offended by the misinterpretation of the contestant's comment to "be careful" upon completion of his audition in Louisville, KY. Our visits to audition cities are relatively brief and sometimes regional greetings and salutations are lost in translation. We had not heard that phrase from any other contestants during the day, so it took everyone by surprise. We now know better and look forward to visiting Louisville again someday."
They also fired the intern responsible for making sure Abdrool actually swallows her pills instead of just tonguing them.

What? What? What? This is relevant?
Simon's hair is about as bad as Trumps. Looks like a fucked up beaver's ass.
No dick, he's related to the doctor who treated John Wilkes Booth ankle after he jumped from the balcony after shooting Lincoln. It's were the term "your name is Mudd came from! Research fag!
Damn right they should apologize! I'm not a Southerner but I was insulted by that! Come on! Duh! It was so obvious that they guy was just saying "be careful" as an exit comment, as in "take care". Those judges are so fricking high on their pedestals, they don't even know how to interpret courteous goodbye!
the song is 'white lightning' by george jones. you dumb fag.
Maybe they should hole up in their ivory towers and let the country come to them instead of visiting the states and looking the fool even more by NOT being in touch with the regular folk.
wtf? she be pill poppin'
" Probably related to Brit Brit….hahahahahaha…….
"y'all be careful now," is common throughout the entire South and has been for over 100 years.
.
These LaLa Land celebutards are delusional morons
I don't know why you trash certain celebreties who don't deserve it but I can only guess that it's jealousy. Paula doesn't trash anyone and certainly not you and for that reason here's one for you, no matter how rich or famous you get, you will never be good looking.
Who the hell still watches that crappy as show!!!!
Oh, well… be careful, y'all!!!
Thank you Perez for posting this!!!!
I tell people to be careful all the damn time. When she freaked out like that I wanted to scream, she is so stupid. I'm from FL and when I hang up the phone with loved ones or walk them to the door I always say "Be careful". Just part of the goodbye. Paula to get corncob out of ass IMO
TEDDY SAYS THAT TO PEREZ ALL THE TIME!!!!!
Don't you think that Paula's still freaked out over her last stalker ????????????
They really need to start doing their homework. They made a fool of that poor guy and saying "Be careful" is as common as "Hello" in the South. Idiots!!!
that was funny!
That's what the parents teach their kids to day in Kentucky right before there daddy's enter their private parts.
Re: guilty of being white – *say*
Re: Rayveniael – I'm with you, Rayveniael! I say it to friends and family all the time when I leave them or get off the phone with them…I was so mad at them for doing that to that poor guy!
I swear that bitch is insane.
abduls an idiot
way to jump down folks throat, YOU SUCK
no wonder that other contestant offed herself-
look how they treat people!!
the song is "white lightning" not "white light." you probably don't even know what white lightning is…
MOONSHINE. It'll knock a Yankee on their ass.
A few of us here are waiting for PerezHilton.com to say it's sorry, too.
the song was white lightning. it's what "old timers" call moon shine
Re: guilty of being white – You know why there is so much inbreeding there? Cuz people from other state don't want too fuck those people!
I thought Paula was weird for not hearing that phrase before. Seriously? It's a very common phrase, and not necessarily just in the South. I can understand Simon not understanding it, but what about Kara and Randy? Either way, they were being stupid and making a bigger deal because they can't find anything entertaining for the show anymore.
American Idol is the WORST of all Idol shows. You know you're doing something wrong when Canadian Idol is a gazillion times better than American Idol. The best is Australian Idol though.
no wonder that other girl contestant offed herself-
look how they treat people!!
this show is a disgrace & should have been off the air ages ago
thats not entertainment- its defamation of soul & character.
driving people to crazy is WRONG, especially in an already crazy, war torn world.
they need some serious consideration for people that are only trying to do what they love
I saw it as a threat, but then I have never been to Louisville, KY. I don't really see the big deal. The guy gave off a really bad vibe anyway!
Oh yeah, I remember when that happened. That guy was weird but you could tell he couldn't hurt a fly. Stupid Paula. I don't know what kind of medication she's on but it's obviously not strong enough, she's still a paranoid bitch.
My husband and I were watching and we thought that was ridiculous how the panel overreacted to that. In the south (I'm from TX), you should feel special if someone cares enough to wish you well by saying y'all be careful when they say goodbye to you. That's what it means! It's not a threat and the fact that they just jumped to that conclusion is so close minded. Especially when Simon says stuff like bloody hell and poppy cock.
that's pathetic. effing urban americans don't know the richness of their own land. it's not all about the odd city. (oh, and same goes for cowell, he doesn't know anything outsida london, new york tokyo, paris the usual.) they're uncultured idiots who shouldn't be allowed on tv. it's so disrespectful to all those who live in kentucky. if i ever go there, i won't freak out over a greeting!
Re: the last star – LOL!
Re: greeningreenedotcom –
I agree. They're all so mean, especially Simon. He seems to think he's God or something. I mean, if they think someone is bad, then they should just tell them "Sorry, but it's a no. Thanks for coming". But no, they have to laugh at them and tell them that they sound like cat falling off the Empire State Building. I don't understand why people keep auditioning. I mean, for every Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood there's like a dozen Justin Guarinis and Ruben Studdards.
i dont see how she cold have got anything bad out of be careful thats just stuped
Funny I say "be careful" to everyone, people should get a clue and stop making something out of nothing.
Where is my picture? That one is especially for you Perez, and also for my friend ANDY27
they SHOULD appoligize. they amd that poor guy looklike some kinda criminal! Yeah he is ugly but not a looney criminal like they made him out oto be.
the song is white lightning by george jones..and they should apologize to him. in the commercial before they showed him, they hyped him up to be some freak. when they actually showed the whole thing though, you could tell he was being a southern gentleman by saying be careful. people judge southerners too much..everyone thinks we are a bunch of hicks when we are quite possibly the nicest region in america.
Y'all go fuck yourselves now, and fuck your mother too! - that is just the local greeting where I live…
he was still a creepy little fucktard either way.
i'm not a southerner, but I realized that it was just a way for people there to say "take care" not to take it as a threat.
Re: dibabe – So true! It was such an embarassing moment. It was obvious the guy was just being polite and they were SO MEAN to him as he exited. Its not like they havent humiliated contestants before in many other ways but it was just so sad. Its funny this comes up now because I remember watching that and thinking how horrible it was.
nnaahhh.. they need to give paula back her juice cup… she is a bit edgy…. was funny though some dude grabbed her cup and drank from her straw…. I thought for sure .. BUSTED!!! ….but no she is off her sauce.. btw I JOKE… nice to see you alert this year
Oh and PH … there is a genre of music called COUNTRY that millions of people love and enjoy…. to slap the granddaddy of country music with your implication of wtf did this song come from is closeminded… pull out ur earphones and turn off the spewing of Lady GagGag and broaden ur horizons a bit…
I saw it happen, the guy was in no way threatening anyone? Have you ever left the house and had Momma say " Now you be careful son" ?
I have to admit, being from the south, it was a bit offensive…we say that shit all the time.
threat my ass…Paula Abdul is a bitch.
Crazy - that's just rude of those judges. I mean let's be serious, they are judges on a reality show, they'd be washed up nobody's it's not like it's a real job, pleeeezzzz.
THEY WORRY ABOUT THAT, YET THEY INSISTED STALKER PAULA GODSPEED TRY OUT??
American Idol definitely isnt what it used to be.. The song that the guy did was "White Lightning" by George Jones. This year the "making fun" of the contestants is at a new level and all time high.. There is no reason to do the name calling and being just plain mean.. The new judge is just not that appealing either.. Her attitude is very nasty.. I know Simon has his attitude, but hers is just plain bitchy.
Would you blame Paula for being freaked out??? It was not that long ago that a fan commited suicide in her backyard… come on people anyone can have an ooopppsss
I guess Paula has never had anyone tell her to "Be Careful" before. Maybe the people in her life are all hoping she will stumble off a cliff while she is in a drug induced haze.
the five of them ought to do a sex video..that would be so cool!
I thought that guy was a pretty good country singer:)
American Idol is pretty lame, however because it was set in Kentucky (my state…yee haw..and what not) I decided to watch it. For once I think I was more embarrased by the judges than I was by the people in my own state. Lol. We NEVER get portrayed in a positive light…but they kind of made me feel good. Anddd Perez, you are SO disrespectful to your elders. "White Lightening" is a song from a country music legend. I'm not a fan of country music either…but I mean come on…I knew that song when I was like…5.
I live in teXXXas and I say "be careful" all the time. My husband and I joked about that when Paula went ballistic. It's not even something I ever noticed that I said until my 2 year old started saying it to me every morning when I leave for work.. "see ya later, be careful"
its white lighting by george jones!! not white light…..def leppard even did a cover….so to not know it makes you look like a dumb ass
Re: harrybalsac – Maybe they don't want to fuck you. Ever thought about it that way?
We say that all the time here. It's the same thing as saying "Take care" just more… redneck haha.
I don't see the problem?
perez come on! the song was white lightning by george jones! but i like the waylon jennings cover version better
classic!
I can confirm this salutation. I tell people to "be careful" all the time. It's quicker than saying "I hope you don't wrap your Ford F150 around a telephone pole on the way home."
I knew what he meant RIGHT OFF! Paula should REALLLY chill… When you fry your brains in that Cali sun, you forget what good-natured southern manners are.
You know…I would be kind of freaked out if a disgrunted contestant told me to be careful if I had the experience of another disgrunted and stalking contestant commit suicide in front of my house. Perhaps the production team could try to weed out the crazies before the audition.
The song you're referring to is actually called, "White Lightning" and it was done by George Jones.. The song is about moonshine.
I'm from KY and we say "be careful" at the end of every phone call or meeting. It's pretty much a way of saying "See ya later." It does not mean that I'm going to cut your break lines or sabotage your flight.
Re: guilty of being white –
It's quite refreshing that you can somehow take the time to insult people of the south, yet somehow you never took the time to correct your typing impediment (a.k.a. you're a very ignorant person, as can be demonstrated by your choice of avatar).
paulas f'd up.. sure id be alil nervous if i had a stalker die outside my house but not freak out on a innocent contestant… im sure that guy could sue the crazy lady somehow…
