LA Celeb Boutique, Kitson, Trash Talks Matthew McConaughey's Babymomma
The business partnership between Robertson Blvd. A-lister, Kitson, and Brazilian model/Mateo McConagay's babymomma, Camila Alves has gone yucky bad!
The store's crying foul because it's lost a crap load of money on their handbag deal with Camila and the model's supposedly slacking on promoting the line.
Kitson backed the new mom's bag line, Muxo, and even played host for its big launch last August.
The store says it spent $50,000 on the intricate bags made in Brazil and has only managed to sell half.
Ouch!
A $25,000 loss sure must hurt bad in this shiz economy!
On top of that, the Beverly Hills store said Alves hasn't done the promo work that she apparently promised to do.
A store rep says, "She hasn’t even been into the store once since (the August launch) and we can’t even get in contact with her… The price point is ridiculous; she can’t compete with Gucci and Louis Vuitton if she’s not going to even promote it. Camila also promised to build a Muxo diaper bag but never delivered."
When contacted about this hub bub, Camila's camp responded:
"Ms. Alves, a dedicated business owner and mother, is committed on a full time basis to the minute-by-minute operations at Muxo, a commitment that has not wavered before or since the birth of her son Levi. Ms. Alves designs and manufacturers her one-of-a-kind line for the specialty and luxury hand bag markets using fine leather materials and labor intensive hand texturing techniques. Each bag, hand cut, finished and sewn, requires a second overlay process for the final artwork application that makes each and every bag unique and one-of-a-kind. The pricing of Muxo handbags is both appropriate and reasonable for the retailers and their customers."
It's not the first time Kitson's felt 'burned' by their celeb partnerships. The store's previously slammed their partnerships with Lauren Conrad and Victoria Beckham.
And, it's been revealed that Camila will be designing a diaper bag, but it won't be for her Muxo line. It'll be exclusive to Lucky Brands.

sounds to me like kitson is a big cry-baby. LC, Posh, Camilla…It's easy to blame the celeb, but KITSON is the one trying to hawk a bunch of overpriced crap just because a star put her name on it. If you hit me over the head a few times, I learn…Kitson will you do the same?
Kitson deserves all they get by backing celebrity lines hoping "names" will sell their product instead of backing great designers who actually went to design school and know how to design. I don't feel sorry for them at all, the public is not as stupid as they like to think they are. Also, every store is having bad sell through.

Ummm….hello I know I am not the only one who see's this but obviously the problem isn't with just the celeb's and their supposed "lack of promotion." There has been 3 lines by celebs recently that Kitson has whined about and everytime it is the same excuse. I think Kitson needs to look in the mirror and start pointing their finger at themselves! Maybe they could've promoted their products alot more themselves! In business there is always risk…they just need to suck it up and move on! Oh and also in my opinion if a celebrity has some type of line of merchandise I don't feel they should have to promote the product per say. They just need to promote themselves and if they are in the tabloids, news, TV, Movies, ect. they ARE doing their job of promotion!

Its a shame, so many talented designers would kill to get their line into kitson…look at the people who line up at project runway…and these celebs dont care…everything is handed to them and they show such irresponibility, and disrespect for these retail stores. Kitson does some amazing things and donates much $$$to charities.
