"The National MS Society is a collective of passionate individuals who want to do something about MS now—to move together toward a world free of multiple sclerosis. MS stops people from moving. We exist to make sure it doesn't.

We help each person address the challenges of living with MS through our 50-state network of chapters. The Society helps people affected by MS by funding cutting-edge research, driving change through advocacy, facilitating professional education, and providing programs and services that help people with MS and their families move their lives forward.

We are moving research forward by relentlessly pursuing prevention, treatment and cure.
We are moving to reach out and respond to individuals, families and communities living with multiple sclerosis.
We are moving politicians and legislation to champion the needs of people with MS through activism, advocacy and influence.
We are moving to mobilize the millions of people who want to do something about MS now."

I think it's time we all take some time to realize.

My sister in law has MS..she just turned 40. At the time of her diagnosis, she was on top of the world…just got her Masters, was climbing the managerial ladder at work, was a fabulous dancer and just lived an active lifestyle.

Now? She can no longer drive, had to quit working, had to move from the north to the south because the cold caused too many flareups and it was harder for her to get around, and she is basically dependant on her family.

What kind of life is that for someone so young? And there are so many others out there like her or worse.

In the world we live in, it would be nice to think of others and do what we can to help out, whether it be big or small! Give, but don't expect to get anything back. It is a tremendous feeling!

Thanks for posting this. I'm 27 and have had MS since I was 20. It has made my life so challenging and I know it's that way for all of us who have MS. This is a great cause.

      thanks for posting this, perez!!
i was diagnosed a month after my 23rd birthday. i woke up one morning and my left side was completely paralyzed…it was terrifying! i was able to regain most of my function by taking steroids, but its scary to know i will have this for the rest of my life. my best friends and i raised $8,000 last year by doing a 30k walk. it was amazingly inspirational and im def doing to again as long as i am able!

Thank you so much for this.

My father died little over a month ago due to complications of MS, so thank you for bringing it to everyone's attention that this is a worthwhile cause.
My father was my hero, he still is, he was the strongest guy I knew and never gave up. Thank you for this so much!

I call bullshit…………. Not to be mean or snarky, but the MS Society is full of people who all they care about is MONEY!!!! My mom had MS, to the point that when I was 18, I had to put her in a nursing home because I could no longer take care of her. I reached out to the MSS, and they blew me off. No help for my poor Mom, who had nothing and no one to take care of her but me. One of the reps from MSS locally hung up on me when I was calling asking for help for my Mom, and another told me ALL they do is fundraising, no sevises for the actuall people who suffer from it. I saw my Mom suffer through Hell I wouldn't put my worst enemy or my ex-husband through!!! She finally "went home" on 4-26-07. I can only comfort myself thinking she is in Heaven, with her family, walking and free from pain.
If anyone REALLY wants to help those with MS, take a trip to your local nursing home. I bet money you will find someone in their 30s-40s who would love someone to take a moment out of their day and just talk to them like they are still a human!!!
