That is the record amount that Exxon Mobile is reporting they made in profit for 2008.

At least they shouldn't be announcing any layoffs soon!

Nothing; even though it was Exxon's inebriated captain that ran the Exxon Valdez into the ground. 42billion this year in profits………how many more billions in profit has Exxon made each year, since they caused this ecological disaster????????? Canada asked for a measly 5 billion towards repairing this mess. Exxon thinks it's funny and has made it verbally known, They Won't Pay a Penny Ever. These greedy Corporations should be sentenced to live in whatever crap they leave for others. Why isn't it considered criminal. Pathetically they r desperate for money and prestige, CEO's just consider it collateral damage while filling their pockets and ego's.

      People loathe the idea of redistribution of wealth when it's money coming from the rich to help the poorer but in reality, redistribution happens all of the time, except that it gets redistributed UPward. Case in point, Exxon. Think of all of the people who are unable to heat their homes this year or even afford food due to Exxon's profit.
