Dalai Lama Hospitalized Again, On Bed Rest

Filed under: Old People > Media Minute

The Dalai Lama has been having health issues lately. In October, the spiritual leader was hospitalized due to abdominal pains and was even operated on to remove gallstones.

And, now, we find out the Dalai Lama was taken to a hospital in New Delhi on Monday after he was complaining of "a mild discomfort" in both of his arms.

A spokesman, Tenzin Taklha, said the leader had been diagnosed with having a "pinched nerve." And according to the doctors, that can result in a tingling sensation or pain in the arms or legs.

At the moment, the Dalai Lama has been advised to go on bed rest.

Taklha adds, "He was feeling a tingling sensation in his arms and we therefore thought it necessary to get a thorough check-up done as soon as possible. The doctors have said there was nothing to worry and he is fine and should be all right with some rest."

According to the rep, the spiritual leader has been released from the hospital. He is said to be preparing for a trip to Italy and Germany starting this coming Sunday. Then he'll be headed on a tour of south India.

Seems like a lot of work for a man who's supposed to be recuperating!

    Hang in there Dalai

The Dali Lama is THE ORIGINAL symbol of hope and unity. Obama learned a great deal from observing the Dali Lama. People who don't think the photo of Mylie Cyrus was racist (or the photo with the Spanish Olympic Basketball team men mocking Asians with a similar pose) need to wake up and realize that Asians find this type of ignorant behavior incredibly offensive (I am Asian so I know). Make fun of a jews nose, a black's super dark skin or big lips, and you get what I mean. All of this stuff is just flat out igrorant and dumb. Please wise-up people! The Dali Lama is an example of understanding. Please try to have some.

Health issues are a dime a dozen when you're that fucking old.

What?! Is the Dalai Lama allowed to sleep on beds and have check-ups? Isn't that against the buddhism-beliefs?

Anyway.. hope he gets better! I can't handle all the locomotion if he would die! Imagine! The press would have a field day.. nay, a field-year! Nooooooooooo!

If he gets within range I'm sure you would shoot him just to finish him off. The young don't have time for this kind of stuff.

May the Dalai Lama live longer in order to help achieve the goals of peace for his people and country, as well as bestowing his grace (knowledge, wisdom, and kindness) upon the rest of us. May he always have Buddha Mind. Health to him, and may he send blessings to we who are yet unawakened. Om mani!

He is trying to save his nation and his culture from dissolution. He cannot live in the Potala so he has to travel the world helping his people everywhere he can. It's a mission of mercy that never ends.

My thoughts and love are with His Holiness as he soldiers on through old age to continue spreading his message of peace, love and compassion around the world. I've read many of his books and seen him talk in Brisbane. The energy in the room was indescribable. I was even lucky enough to be given a blessing string from him which I wear around my wrist to help me through hard times. For those of you who have never read anything he's written, do yourself a favour and have a little flick through one of his books next time you're in the bookstore. I'm sure you'll chance upon something of relevance to you. Peace, love and happiness to you. x

When questioned the dali said " All I know was my gut and mouth were on fire, my only thought was to get a cold glass of water, I'll never do that again, it was insanne on my part, I don't know what made me think I could eat one of those BURGER KING ANGRY WHOPPERS but I tried and I am now paying the price" ??

I hope that the Dalai Lama's life cycle is strong enough to carry him into this bright and beautiful future we are about to embark on. The world is so fragile right now, we need all the love and peace that we can get.
Peace Be With You and God please forgive those who felt the need to make any comment but a get well blessing.
