Oprah Winfrey had a big January, no pun intended.
The 'media blitz' dedicated to her weight gain helped her sell 1.1 million copies of O Magazine's January 2009 edition.
It was the best-selling issue of O in 3 years.
Dayum!
The January issue featured a personal essay penned by Oprah that explained how she gained back 40 pounds in four years.
Miz Winfrey appeared on the cover in a before and after image of herself asking the question, “How did I let this happen again?”
Subsequently, the cover and the story were picked up by media outlets across the country.
We bet once she loses the weight, there'll be another 'media blitz' dedicated to that!

Well, I think that White America is only comfortable with the "fat" Oprah. The sad, depressed Oprah. They can "identify" with that. The strong, sexy, slim Oprah turns those old house fraus off because as long as Oprah looks like a "mammy" (nice fat black woman who takes care of the white family), she's okay.
