      It is so fun here. No one is at work an there are just grown men making snowmen and trying to get snowballs through open windows. And taking pictures of each other standing next to snowmen. Yay for snow. I don't remember it ever being this thick before…the pictures don't do it justice. :D

      OK, it's like three inches. I'm from North Jersey and I go to school in Boston (but I'm in London this semester) and let me tell you, I took finals in weather 10 times worse than this. School never would have been canceled for this at home, and the freakin' Tube is shut down and everything. And there's no salt on the sidewalks, either.

      I shouldn't complain, though, because class was canceled. Yay for silly Brits who don't know how to handle a little snow!

      Oh what a shock - it snows in February in the UK - like most years. Ok - so it is quite a bit but really it is very similar to the 1970s winters I remember from my childhood. I'm not enjoying my 4 kids being off school! Need some peace and quiet ;)

      London gave up the ghost today. No buses, no trains and get this no underground either until about 3pm. Its so much worse in the North but no one gives a shit about the North. 'Ooh, common people live there, oh they're barbarians compared to the South'. It snowed in Manchester, the transport system is dying on its arse and has been for some time, today killed it. Its supposed to get worse because according to the impartial Beeb, the snow is moving to the North and the West ie, the North West ie, Manchester and Liverpool and we're expecting 1ft more of snow.

      This post is in response to several comments made by various people. Firstly, let me just say that I am an American (Atlanta, Georgia), and have a huge amount of admiration and respect for the UK and it's citzens (…and I think the UK version of The Office is funnier than America's version, too). Secondly, the people who think that it was 'silly' for London (and the South, in general) to 'shut down' for the snow are just ignorant; if the city is not equipped to handle large amounts of snow and to continue to provide safe transportation options (and this doesn't mean 12 feet for those of you that live in Siberia!), then what is the alternative? It's exciting, beautiful, and yes, adults love to have a snow day, too, sometimes. Thirdly, the odd weather is a result of Global Warming. No one should even dispute that; what is disputed amongst scholars is the ’cause' of Global Warming; man-induced or a long-term natural warming cycle? Just Google 'global warming' and get your facts straight. Al Gore did not win the Nobel Prize for work that only lead to making-money. There is plenty of hard-core evidence that proves, without a doubt, that even these 'colder than normal' winters are a part of the Global Warming crisis. Lastly, I am happy for whomever enjoyed the snow, and wish we could get some of it here (they're saying we could see flurries here in Atlanta tomorrow, but I'll take the deep stuff anyday!!!). Be safe and stay warm.
