Holy fuck. First I come to Miley Cyrus' defense, now I'm understanding Elizabeths point of view?! Oh. My. God. I've been sick with the flu the past couple days, fever must be boiling my senses away.

I agree with Elizabeths first comment- Michael Phelps is being paid millions to endorse Speedo and other brands. He MUST be aware that children, well people, all over the world are influenced by him. Swimmers want to be him. His newfound celebrity- in the athletic genre, not so much the entertainment industry- comes with some responsibilty.
Dont get me wrong, I hit the peace pipe too. But do so with your close knit buds Phelps to ensure your public image is what it should be.
As for pot being the gateway drug to steriods or other such drugs enticing to athletes is a bit far fetched. If anything I think he is a BETTER athlete knowing that he was able to attain what he did occassionaly hitting the peace pipe. That man has got sooooome endurance!

I have worked years with mothers who have delivered crack and heroin positive babies and have done hundreds of case reviews, and each and every woman started her abuse with alcohol and then weed. When interviewed everyone of the women stated that they sought out more drugs after the "High" of weed was boring, so in my research I do think weed is a gate way drug. But then I have worked out in the real world with those who struggle with substance abuse for years. I do not look for excuses to validate abusive behavior and no I have never smoked weed or abused drugs, had the good fortune of a loving supportive parents, a good education I worked hard to achieve and just too much dam living to do to fuck it up with drugs. who cares what Elizabeth says… Who cares what anyone on The View says for that matter… Michael Phelps is a grown man, and if he wants to hit a bong then why not? He has like 10 gold metals!
