Senate Republicans yesterday stripped a special $246 million tax break for Hollywood producers from President Obama's stimulus package.

"This isn't stimulus. This is a gift," said Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), who wrote the amendment to strike out the giveaway for some of the Democrats' most generous political supporters.

"It's not going to stimulate the economy at all," he said. "What it's going to do is line the pockets of very wealthy individuals already not experiencing the downside of the economy."

How do you know a democrat is not telling the truth? His/her lips are moving. He is trying to rebrand the "stimulus" package into a "recovery" package because nothing contained within it will stimulate the economy. It's a liberal spending spree that will NOT bring an end to the recession. His administration was asked how the "stimulus" package would create 1 job…… CRICKETS. It's a scam. If the almost trillion dollars in spending the democrats are proposing was distributed to each US citizen, we would each be $300,000 richer. Now that's stimulation I can believe in, not this scam of a "stimulus/recovery" bill.

Anyone who actually has a business in America knows how hard it is to compete. Everyday new fees and regulations are imposed while China, India etc. do not regulate. When the credit dries up and we have to work instead of borrow we wonder why we do not have customers. I am not saying deregulate everything but do we really need inventory tax, air compressor permits etc. etc. etc. Obama is not dealing with the problem he is trying to borrow more. That's Dumb….It was dumb when Bush did it and it is still dumb when Obama does it. Its just now he gets a free pass with the media.

I'm not gonna lie. I really like the guy, but it just sounds like he's still campaigning. This didn't sound like the president of the united states of america, ostensibly the most powerful man on earth. This sounded like some guy campaigning. He's still trying to sell us on himself and his plans, even after we elected him. I think he needs to fucking grow a pair at least in the way he talks to the media. I think this whole transparency thing is gonna backfire and he won't look presidential. He'll just look like the perpetual nominee.

it's sad that he's only been in office for how many days and already fishy things are happening in washington under his watch. he doesn't fool me playing the whole "apologetic I made a mistake" bit. one by one they'll all fall down. there are handfuls of people that see the cracks in his nearly TRILLION dollar "stimulus" package. Call your senators and tell them to block this "Stimulus" package. It is NOT a stimulus package. It includes huge amounts of money for far Left Democratic constituencies, including ACORN, which engaged in massive voter fraud in the past election. This bill is simply meant to strengthen their power base. It will leave the rest of us in huge debt, with our taxes going higher and higher to pay for all these things, while our freedom and prosperity will diminish as the ruling class confiscates more of our money and power.

The poor people in Obama's district in Chicago were not empowered by these kinds of policies. They were left to freeze in unheated, rodent-infested housing, while big city money went to those contributing to keep the corrupt Chicago machine in power. Now we have this corruption coming to Washington. The new Attorney General pardoned terrorists. The new Treasury Secretary is a tax cheat. Ethics? That's a joke.

Someone here finally commented on something that I agree with. The United States (and now a lot of European countries are doing the same) has "bred a couple of generations with their hands sticking out of their pockets" and you know what also? This is an ignorant, lazy, overweight, overly arrogant, center of the Universe, generation with WAY too much self esteem. America hasn't really seen it tough. I think people have sat on their fat asses watching TV for three hours a day for way too long… We are in trouble, horrible trouble. Soon, crime rate will increase (no jobs mean more crime), cities will look uglier, more contaminated. The sea level is going to rise, hollywood is going to be the "new education system" and gangs will control communities. We will start looking like Mexico in less than five years. Just watch and see…

Exactly. Obama is just continuing the disastrous economic policies of the last administration. Change we can believe in. We need to stop nation building and sticking our nose in the world's business. Ron Paul says it costs up to $1 trillion a year to maintain our american empire. We the taxpayer have our money confiscated from us and sent overseas to pay for stupid shit like "family planning" in other countries while our country is going broke. Stop giving our money away to other nations, especially nations that are hostile to us.

About $10 billion should go toward auditors to seek out fraud in our welfare system!! I see it everyday and wonder how they are getting away with it!! If all of these politicians would have their taxes audited, there would probably be about $2 billion in owed taxes that they "overlooked" on their returns. Yeah, right. And then they don't even have to pay penalties or interest. Us common folk sure do!

I read Perez to hear what liberals think and right before the election, I feared for my country and its future. I am very happy to see more people waking up to Obama and his gang of thugs who are not out to help the average American. I am a conservative, but not a moron. I know Bush sucked, but Obama is going to be worse and no one will say anything for fear of being a bigot. It saddens me how many people have stopped questioning authority.
