Fake American Idols?
Looks like the only thing "unknown" to certain American Idol contestants is how to read the rules of the game.
The February 9th issue of TV Guide Magazine reveals some of the more known "unknowns"!
- Joanna Pacitti, 24. Hired and fired as Broadway's Annie at 12, 2 record deals, sang on the Legally Blonde and Bratz soundtracks
- Brent Keith Smith, 29. Finalist on CMT's Nashville Star in 2004, got a record deal in 2005 and sung the title track for Dale, a 2007 movie about NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt
- David Osmond, 29. Donny Osmond's nephew. Played the lead in a tour of 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat', had record deals with the band Osmond 2ndG
- Michael Castro, 20. His older brother Jason made it to Idol's Top 4 last season
- Emily Wyne-Hughes, 21. Lead singer of Go Betty Go, a popular LA based punk band who had two hit singles before she joined the group
- Adam Lambert, 26. Performed in a national tour of Broadway hit Wicked
To be fair, that probably doesn't make much of a difference to Idol's audience, but they've certainly got a leg up on the rest of the competition!

I don't understand what Michael Castro is doing on that list. Yeah, Jason was on last season but i didn't even know Michael existed until i saw his audition. So, how is he more experienced than the others?

almost everyone who makes it to this point in the season has had some sort of experience, or previous record deal. IT'S PART OF THE BUSINESS. you try, you fail. you try again, you fail again. and so on and so on, until you get to the point where you wanna be. they are still trying to make it big, and follow their dreams. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT.

I don't think it really matters what opportunities these kids have had in the past - None of them are known to 99% of America. They should be applauded for pursing their dream instead of being quitters. Those with the opportunities before have never been on PEREZ before so they are no names as far as I am concerned….
See this is why I don't like this show anymore why are they giving failed singers another chance when no one like them in the first place. I mean wasn't this song suppose to be about giving unknown singers a chance. This show has gone down hill since Carrie Underwood's season. and man the New Idol Judge SUCKS she really needs to go somehwere/

as long as they're not currently under any other recording contract, they're not breaking any rules. if these people have tried and failed before, thats fine, but they'll also find that they still won't go over well with the voters (cases in point: michael johns, carly smithson, and kristy lee cook).

Judging from that info I don't have a problem with Jason Castro's brother. You didn't say he had a record deal. He should have the same opportunity his brother had to see how far he can make it.
The rule is they can't have a CURRENT contract…so as long as they aren't in a current record deal, then it's free game…I think it sucks though.

perez seriously you don't know that failed singers no longer on contract are eligible for AI? i find that hard to believe. Kelly Clarkson was also a failed singer who'd had a recording contract before she was a contestant. it's common knowledge.

Joanna Pacitti also guest starred on "What I Like About You" (starring Jenny Garth and Amanda Bynes) and sang a song on it ("Ultraviolet"). I was watching the episode of American Idol where she appeared (the only one I've ever seen, may I add) and I saw her and I was like "I KNOW HER!" …hahah stupid show….
Kristen McNamara competed on Nashville Star, season four, she came in sixth.
So they really upgraded the quality of their contestants… last shows had kids with criminal records… the only real Idol… Kelly Clarkson!
They have no choice because the ones who are not already professionals all suck. This show is such bullshit.
