Angelina Jolie Requests Aid For Refugees In Thailand
And she's off!
Our favorite celebutarian embarked on another humanitarian mission this week.
Angelina Jolie has asked the Thai government to grant Myanmar refugees in northern Thailand greater liberties.
Saint Ang was busy goodwilling over in Thailand on Wednesday, spending a day listening to refugees tell their tales of the difficulties they have faced during years of living in camps.
An unstable political environment has forced people from Myanmar to flee to Thailand, which already generously hosts other refugees. Jolie asked for more freedom of movement for the refugees, banking on Thailand's past with fleeing people.
She said, "I was saddened to meet a 21-year-old woman who was born in a refugee camp, who has never even been out of the camp and is now raising her own child in a camp. With no foreseeable chance that these refugees will soon be able to return to Burma (Myanmar), we must find some way to help them work and become self reliant."
Her name has the word "angel" in it for a reason!

Angelina is bringing awareness to the public about international issues. That's great. My problem with her is that… well, I have several problems with her, but none of them based on personal issues. My problem with her is that although her international travels bring awareness back home, the real problems are "at home" here in the U.S. We have thousands of people losing their jobs daily. I think she's doing the best she can with the level of intelligence and education she has, but it would be nice to see her adopt a baby from the US, or take part in some of the projects going on here at home. This country is stricken with enough of our own problems right now. Not that the refugees don't matter, they do, but we are bailing out our own country right now. We don't have the resources to continue saving the planet until we stabilize our base. She is, however, doing something; which is always better than nothing.

It's like she doesn't read the news or something, like she's completely out of touch with reality. Maybe it's her "job" to keep someone (who I'm not sure unless it's the public because it's not like our government doesn't know) informed. My family is sponsoring a family from Burma, that were in a camp in Thailand for almost 10 years. They came to the US in August. I'm glad there are others out there that care.

Angelina is simply a Goodwill ambassador, there is nothing 'angel' like about this. the UN uses a whole range of celebrities simply to promote their causes, they have very little input. The answer is simple , she is trying to help people from the third world country & bringing attention to those countries who are unable to help themselves and need outside help, united state of america is not a third world country, it's a country that not only they can help them but they can help other poor countries in some ways as well it not jolie who is helping them(at least not as much as they need) , she's bringing awareness so the countries like usa and Europe give them a helping hand, IF IT IS POSSIBLE, HAVE YOU BEEN IN A THRID WORLD COUNTRY ? i bet not, otherwise you never would said usa needS angelina jolie help instead of them or comparing the third world countries to usa instead you would have applaud her for what she is trying to do.

Of course the real cause of the problem is the Frankenstein government of Burma which never heard of fairness or even mercy, but Ms. Jolie knows what to do and how to do it, and she will help the refugees. The government of Thailand has been generous and a way can be found to relieve the problem.
