Supreme Court Justice Ruth Ginsburg, 75, has been hospitalized at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York for pancreatic cancer detected in its earlier stage.

The cancer was discovered during a routine checkup when a CT scan revealed a tumor about half an inch wide located on the pancreas.

Ginsburg will be in the hospital for the next 7 to 10 days.

We know from Patrick Swayze's battle with the disease that pancreatic cancer is particularly awful, so we wish Ginsburg the strength and spirit to hopefully get through this!

She's been dealt a hard hard, especially considering that she had to battle colon cancer some time ago.

The cleaners in your house which are full of toxic chemicals mess up your immune system and even the lotions you put on your skin are full of toxins that are absorbed into the body. All this stuff causes cancer. Then you walk outside and breathe in all the toxins there. It's no surprise cancer rates are up.

OH FUCK, if we lose her we are losing one of the few liberals on the supreme court, at least obama will be the one to appoint a new judge though… shit

Too bad it isn't Scalia, Thomas or Roberts. Ruthie is a sweetie.

So sad tht such bad things happen to such good people. Ms. Ginsburg is an exemplary justice, true to the rule of law, as well as to goodness, common sense and common decency. Her service (and her findings) have been outstanding and sensible and there is not a trace of prejudice or partisanship
in any of her writings. I wish we had at least 8 more like her. I hope that with the new President, there will be, and eventually we will have a supreme court that is less of the present right wing fanatic make-up and more of the moderate and common sense make-up such as Justice Ginsburg personifies.

Hrm, you don't typically get a CT scan for a routine checkup. Hope they've found it early enough. Best of luck to her.

You old dirt bag. If you like cancer so much, maybe you'll get up close and personal with it someday.

    24. 24

      Ruth Buzzi/ Gladys Ormphby.
She can still swing a purse.

Re: topper – Reading your words is as close to a cancer as I intend to get, darling.

    26. 26

Noooooooooo! A speedy recovery, Justice Ginsberg! We need your voice of reason (and advocacy for women) on the Supreme Court.

She should have retired years ago. Poor old crone. No one survives pancreatic cancer. Some just fight off the inevitable longer then others. RIP Ruth.

    28. 28

cancer is aboslutely horrid. but i'm a bit relieved to know that she will be replaced if needed by a -comparatively speaking - liberal judge, if needed. however, she was as liberal as the come. its sad to see great people wane. i wish her all the strength she needs.

Oh gawd, pancreatic cancer is one of the worst….I should know, it's my line of work. I'm pulling for ya, Ruth. :(

    32. 32

you gotta give it to the tough old broad to make it 4 years before retiring.
