Hilary Duff, Grown-Up Fashion "Designer"

Hilary Duff really wants to be a mini-mogul. The 21-year-old singer/actress is currently working on a new fashion line in collaboration with a DKNY.

Her new collection is called Femme for DKNY Jeans.

In a new interview, Hils said that "One of the hardest things is to come up with a name. But I think Femme works really well and explains the line perfectly as feminine but tough all at the same time. It’s aggressive, but in a good way.”

This is Hilary's second attempt at fashion. About five years ago she released Stuff by Hilary Duff, which is now being phased out.

She said about her previous line, “I’ve lost interest in it, and I’m ready to move on and do other things. I feel like the brand was for younger girls, and I want to do things for girls my own age now. I’ve been learning so much about how the process happens from how much certain things cost to shipping schedules - it has been an amazing learning experience.”

The Femme line will launch this fall in stores and is set to be sold for two seasons.

There's also an option to extend the agreement if it sells well.

It better not be Beckham-priced!

Most REAL fashion designers spend years of studying at RISD or FIT or apprentice in Paris, Milan, etc. despite their hardcore god-given TALENT (drawing, sewing, knowledge of stitches, knowledge of fabrics, vision, creativity, business ability, etc.) No, not our Celebutards. They just need to WANT it and POOF, they're designers. They go into some manufacturers and slap their name on something. It's amazing how this works. ONLY in America…

I dislike when actors/singers/reality stars claim themselves as designers because they randomly come up with a line to extend their empire. I don't consider someone a designer when all they do is choose pretty colors and the basic design. Especially when they have seamstresses, cutters, stitchers, sketchers, coordinators, assistants, etc. WHO DO ALL THE WORK. This is unlike the true fashion designers who do it all themselves, study at school, and work their way up the fashion ladder. Hilary Duff, you are NOT a fashion designer. You're merely a girl playing dress up and getting money for it because the label has your name on it. If she wants to be a REAL DESIGNER then she needs to actually contruct and create a LINE and not just tell everyone a basic idea and let them do the work she gets credit for.
