Phelps' Subway Sponsorship Up In Smoke
Fast food stoner fave, Subway, is pulling the plug on Michael Phelps' sponsorship deal with the sandwich artists.
Although Subway hasn't released an official statement, the big wigs over at Subway HQ aren't too pleased with the Olympic swimmer. It's being reported that "execs are pissed off, talking to legal, want their endorsement money returned — and to 'get rid of this embarrassment."
All mentions of Phelps have been erased from the company's website!
Way to harsh Michael's mellow, Subway.
Guess he won't be seeing anymore complimentary meatball subs in the future!

so totally amazing how everyone has completely forgotten phelps was arrested and convicted of DUI. would you all be supporting him if he had caused an accident that seriously injured or killed someone? i didn't think so. the guy is not a kid, he is 23 years old. he is not 16 nor is he 19. he had 4 years to smarten up after that dui. he was drunk and doing drugs and he got caught. whoever took those pictures should be applauded coz who knows phelps could have gotten behind the wheels and actually hurt or killed someone. the guy needs to accept the consequences of his actions. you alls are pointing the finger at everyone except phelps. so yeah, good on those people, USA swimming, kelloggs, and now subway for smacking him upside the head for being so stupid and careless.

Have you ever seen a Subway commercial? They show these big fat sandwiches that are super duper loaded up with meat and cheese and veggies–and then you actually go and buy one and you get this sad thing where they don't even put meat and cheese all the way across and they hardly put any veggies. Total fake bs. At least Phelps is honest. Unlike stupid misadvertising Subway. I think that advertisers are pulling their endorsements just because the economy stinks and they are using this whole thing as an excuse. Lame. Go Phelps!

What a bunch of hypocrites. I don't know ONE executive (or politician, for that matter) that hasn't smoked a bit of pot on his off time, and if they haven't, they probably darn sure did when they were Phelp's age. Michael Phelps has done nothing but train since he was probably around ten years old, and now wants to have a little fun. Good. Lord. These same execs no doubt anaesthetize themselves with liquor (another drug), and it probably goes onto the company expense account. Phelps is still an amazing world class athlete whether he took a hoot or not. I want to know who the jacka$$ juda$ is that leaked the photos, and I hope he/she are proud of themselves.
I'd rather have coffee with pot smoker Phelps than with any user/company schill who would drop their support from this magnificent young man because they've decided 'he can do nothing more for them.' Now, I would be really impressed with any company who would stand up and stand behind this young man. Mature and seasoned adults who know better should stand up and support ALL of our young people as they try to find themselves, and hang in with them to guide them to the right path.
I am REALLY surprised at all the people on here that feel sympathy for this guy… First of all, he has been training for this most of his life… He has known what he wanted to do and that he wanted to be in the olympics… You are supposed to hold yourself to different standards… Supposed to…. Quite frankly, I'm wondering how many people on here would encourage your children to follow him as a "hero" now that your children know he smokes weed…. If your child got busted for having weed on him or getting high, would you look at your child and tell them it's ok? It's just weed?
I just ate at Subway today…my decision to eat there wasn't based on whether or not Phelps smoked smoke dope. I ate there because I was hungry for it. The stiffs in those corporate offices need to chill the F out, not such a big deal!

You Know if he was a Canadian it wouldn't be such a big deal. Remember Ross Rebagliati, they took his medal away because he tested positive for pot, but he said he was just around some people smoking it. Canadians made a pretty big deal about it and was given back his medal. The joke was "If he could snowboard that awesome stoned, he deserves two medals".
