Phelps Suspended!
Olympic Gold medalist Michael Phelps' really bad week just got a fucload worse!
The pot-smoking swimmer has just been suspended from competition for three months from USA Swimming.
On Thursday evening, USA Swimming released the following statement:
USA Swimming has reprimanded Michael Phelps under its Code of Conduct by withdrawing financial support and the eligibility to compete for a period of three months effective today, Feb. 5, 2009.
This is not a situation where any anti-doping rule was violated, but we decided to send a strong message to Michael because he disappointed so many people, particularly the hundreds of thousands of USA Swimming member kids who look up to him as a role model and a hero.
Phelps has voluntarily accepted this reprimand and "has committed to earn back our trust."

I could care less whether he was smoking pot or not. I am glad that his money-train is coming to an end though. You see him dressed in the finest clothes wearing expensive sunglasses like he's some sort of mogul or A-list actor. He needs to be taken down a couple of notches because his 15 minutes are up. What's the big deal? So he smoked some weed - so what! It is way less harmful than alcohol is.

I feel absolutely no sympathy for him! If he's gonna smoke, at least be bright enough not to have a picture taken when you do it! He knew when he got into this occupation, that he'd have to grow up. Wow…until reading this, I didn't know how many pot heads were actually out there! lol. Seriously guys, YOU need to calm down. They banned him for 3 months. Big deal. He was supposed to be a role model for kids. I sure as hell don't want my kid looking up to a pot head! Pot is only good for you (this is to the morons who are saying it) is if you have a medical condition that it help relieve the pain of. And even then..it's not necessarily GOOD for you.
They should look into him doing more then just pot.
I can't help but admire Phelps for admitting straight up that it was him holding the bong instead of being a coward and pretending otherwise. I also like it that he said the suspension is fair. At least the guy has courage.
there aren't even like that many meets in february, march, and april. This like won't even affect him at all
