Hello, Twilight effect?

The CW has reportedly picked up a pilot based on L.J. Smith's book series, Vampire Diaries.

The first book of the series was originally published in 1993.

The books revolve around a young lady who is torn between two vampire brothers, one good and the other evil.

The brothers battle for her soul, and the souls of her small town friends and family.

Would you watch?

      LISTEN! I read this book and it's absolutely amazing!!!!!!! I'm an extrememly huge twilight fan but this book really is amazing! it's so fuckin hot lol…but trust me, you guys will definitely love! I suggest if you haven't read it or it's counterpart (the 2nd book) you do!!

      Personally I like "True Blood" series by Charlaine Harris better. This series is 'ok'. The heroine is just…, so….., vapid.
      But I still will be buying the new book which comes out Tuesday, so I guess it must be more than 'ok'.

      This series is so good!! I'm happy that it's getting a comeback now, the writer is a darling. I'll be interested to see how the CW handles the adaptation, but I'll definitely give it a try!

      Hells Yeah I will watch this!!!!!!! I read this books in 5th grade and I was obsessed, lol!! These books led to my love of everything vampire, Anne Rice, and later Stephanie Meyer. LJ Smith books are pretty amazing, I love the way she can have good no sex intimacy and still keep it good. A lot better than anyone else I've read. I'm so excited, I hope this pilot gets picked up!!!!!

      Considering the LJ Smith is a wonderful author, yes i would watch it. I suggest, perez, that you read the book before making any claims on it. It's like twilight that they have vampires. But besides that it's totally different. Plus, i think you'll get a kick out of Damon.

      And FYI, Vampire Diaries was released in 1991.
      There is also a new addition to the book coming out in February. It's not a reprint, but an original book coming out 17 years after the book was first published.

      The books were pretty good, but I'm afraid TV will ruin LJ Smith's work. Commercialization only ruins things. Unfortunatly for Twilight, the writing was already sub-par and that's why the movie was so cheesy… maybe the Vampire Diaries will fair better then?

      As someone who was into Vampires long before Twilight and True Blood (Hellooo Buffy anyone?), I think its safe to say this is the lamest premise i've ever heard of, and this sad attempt to jump on the vampire bandwagon is a waste of time. Unless they've got lots of sex or mouthwatering-ly hot vamps, no one is gonna watch this.
