thanks perez i've been watching the news all day

  3. 3

    thank you, perez

  4. 4

    that's right! stay strong!

  5. 5

    rip xx

  6. 6

thank you for posting this in response to my email, nice to know someone's listening!
our friends lost their 4 week old baby, not to mention entire families who have perished. towns have been flattened in flames to hot the plastic school-chairs in the local schools are now pools around metal frames.
if anyone nearby can, please make blood, food, clothing or toy donations…they're more strongly appreciated than you'll know.

We will fight with all we have. To the families of the dozens who have died and many who are injured our nation is behind you. and you can see from here so is the world.

I love this country with all my heart but it is at time a harsh land. our thoughts are also to those in north suffering devastating floods.

  8. 8

Thanks Perez. i live very close to those fires xx

  9. 9

hey thanks perez. its been a bit of a disaster apparently.

  10. 10

Thanks for the thoughts Perez, the devastation and death is heartbreaking. I have family there (I am in Perth Australia) and any help anyone can offer the authorities(CFA) and funds to help those who have lost everything would be appreciated.

  11. 11

Thanks Perez. Means alot to us aussies.

  12. 12

If anyone can donate, the request has been put out by the Red Cross who have got an appeal going.
They are also catching people who have started some of the fires. Atm there are fires in Vic and NSW and floods in Qld.
Thoughts from WA to all those and fingers crossed fires near Beechworth don't go out of control or affect my family

  13. 13

I have been watching this most of the day. We were caught up in the 2002 fires in Sydney. My heart goes out to all the families who lost people and/or homes. If anyone wants to help, the Red Cross is running the appeal.

  14. 14

    Thank you Perez,

    What a tragedy.

It breaks my heart that (some of) these devastating fires were perhaps caused by arsonists (according to the BBC reports).

Words are not enough at times like this.

  15. 15

thanks mate. didnt know the news got to america. that may sound stupid, sorry. its devastating. we have family friends living near the affected areas and their leaving.
all the best to all in vic or who know people there x

  16. 16

:) its nice that u care

  17. 17

Thank you Perez, so far 82 have been confirmed dead from the fires (Sunday 11:23pm). This is utterly devastating with bushfires in the south and flooding from cyclone activity in the north (in my home town) it makes our hearts bleed…appreciate that a gossip blogger from the US is thinking of us Aussies.
    Thank you again

  18. 18

Thanks Perez for the thoughts!! Nice to know people are thinking of us!

It's pretty bad. My thoughts are with all the CFA crews out there working hard!! I have friends and family out there now foghting the fires and I'm really worried for them as these are the worst fires in history. Atleast 100 people have died including Brian Naylor (all Victorian know Brian!)

And with the people who have lost loved ones from the fires. This will be a sad day for Victorians, Australian and everyone who cares!!

  19. 19

    84 dead, that's horrible
my heart goes out to them too

  20. 20

it is just horrible. came to perez for some escape but it turns out we can't lose the nightmare. i haven't stopped crying today and doubt i will tomorrow. so many friends, so much heartache, so much pain. wish i was coming on here to bag out some stupid celebrity but i'm not. heart isn't in it and won't be for a long time. r.i.p. my friends xoxo

  21. 21

Hugs to you Perez for your caring thoughts

    it is horrific here…

  22. 22

    Thank you Perez

I live in Victoria but am very lucky to not be near any fires. Its very very heart breaking. So far 84 confirmed dead…. can you imagine dying in a fire…..

    pray for us

  23. 23

  25. 25

thanks, it means alot. my mum grew up in the country where it's all happening, and my grandparents only moved out of there farm last year. i am so gratefull they arn't still there.
it's been horrible, my mums been on the phone constantly trying to find out if her friends who still live out there are okay. we had a phone call from my mums friend, who was her maid of honor at her wedding, last night saying that her farm was surrounded by fire and they we're trying to keep the fire away from the house, luckily the fire fighters came and rescued them.
but 3 of my grandparents friends are missing, 2 of whom taught me how to horse ride. i just pray that they are safe and alive.
this thing is so surreal, like it's something out of a movie.

  26. 26

That is so tragic!!! My thoughts go out to everyone who has lost family and friends in the fires..

  27. 27

thanks perez, it means a lot to all of us aussie posters here.

  28. 28

    Thank you so much, Perez!

It's so good to see that our emails to you have not gone ignored.

My family has been under threat from these fires for the last two weeks, due to their area being rife with arsonists.

It's so good to have someone as influential as yourself posting about our hereos in the CFA/DSE/MFB, giving them the recognition they deserve by everyone the world over.

To those of you with family in the fire ravaged areas and cannot pass the road blocks, stay strong. Some of the major blocks are being disbanded and access to the Gippsland communities will be available to you as of tomorrow morning.

Once again, thank you Perez, for listening to us.

  29. 29

It's is 1.21am here in Victoria and the official (confirmed) death toll has now risen to 96 people.. My heart, prayers and thoughts go out to my fellow Victorians and all victims of this tragedy.. To our firefighters and volunteers I send my thanks.. Many more people would have perish if it wasn't for your hard work and bravery..

    woo nice!

  31. 31

thanks perez. its a very sad time. to see whole towns like marysville turn into ghost towns over night is heartbreaking.
if u can please donate money through red cross to help us out :)

  32. 32

redwineonsundays, I'm so sorry for your loss. And to anybody else reading who has lost loved ones, my heart goes out to you.
I'm in North Queensland where the floods are and I have to say that what we've been going through seems like nothing compared to the horror of what those in Victoria are experiencing. I can't imagine the terror and I just want you all to know that you're in my thoughts and my prayers and that the whole of Australia is behind you.
Thank you Perez for mentioning this xx

  33. 33

That was kind of you, Perez.

  34. 34

Please donate at the Australian Red Cross website it will not let me post it here!

  35. 35

    Perez, this is horrible.
The fires of 98 in Florida was terrible,
    but nothing like this.
    God Bless you all
    down under.

  36. midi says – reply to this

how devastating. r.i.p. may others be safe.

  37. 37

Dear Jesus God in Heaven, please touch these people who are suffering in Jesus name I ask. Please stop the fire now in the name of the father, son, and the Holy Ghost.

  38. 38

  39. 39

i was in malibu after the fires there. i cant imagine the destruction in Vic. prayers for all the families involved.
thank you perez for highlighting this tragedy.

  40. 40

its pretty scary..i live in melbourne and my aunt and uncle live in marysville,we havent been able to find out if they are ok or not!so lets keep everyone in our prayers and hope this world stops being so haywire!

  41. 41

    first i would say
    im sorry for the loss
thanks perez for remembering us all
of the hard time the victims went through

sympathy should also be sent to people in gaza..

  42. 42

117 degrees! thats insane! bet George W is wondering why its so hot in some far away places in the world.

  43. 43

  44. 44

  45. 45

Please dontate to the Red Cross.

RIP all those who died…people, pets, wildlife…entire towns.

  46. 46

the last few posts disgust me.

check out our news website, the deaths and loss of homes looks like a massive bombsite!

  47. 47

    so far..

96 dead, 750 homes lost in fire horror

  48. 48

and hen in north QLD.. COMPLETE OPPOSITE!

Three people missing in floods, search for boy feared taken by crocodile to continue

  49. 49

And then the complete opposite up in North QLD..

Three people missing in floods, search for boy feared taken by crocodile to continue

  50. 50

To all my blogging "mates" Down Under, I hope you're all safe and remain out of harms way.

  51. 51

Thankyou for highlighting this. I hope all the families who have lost relatives or friends are okay. These past few weeks have been hellish in Victoria, please donate to the Red Cross, and support our CFA. They are doing an amazing job.
I also want my Dad to know that I love him, and am so glad he is safe.

  52. 52

    Hearts and prayers to Aussie's.

  53. 53

To think that the fires may have been deliberately set……

  54. 54

We in USA know only too well the devastation and death that wildfires bring. People of Australia, may God bless you and protect you.

  55. 55

    thanks perez!
i loveeeee that you've mentioned this.
i live in australia, and it's been on the news for ages:[
    it's sooo devestating.

  56. 56

dreadful news…was just looking at some news footage.

my heart goes out to you guys.

  57. 57

oh no. :( I haven't seen this on the news yet. I live in Santa Barbara, so I understand how hard it was for a community to deal with this.

  58. 58

oh man, just saw some pics

    that looks awful:(

  59. 59

It's 3.14am, and I can't sleep. I live close to the fires, and the stories that I am hearing are heartbreaking. 96 dead, how many more? It's just terrible.

  60. 60

    Re: shumwah
Please get out of there. I have 8 babies and six kids at home if anyone needs wants a baby. Sorry for your misery.

  61. 61

BTW, don't get mad at me, that was aimed at Perez.

We love Australia and hope the situation turns around quickly for the positive

  62. 62

The death toll is already ridiculous, this is such terrible news.

  63. 63

We are sorry and we love the outback. We will donate money to the cause. Sorry.

  64. 64

Jesus Perez, wake the fuck up and lets get this shit goin!!! Go get some Eight o Clock coffee!!!! lol

  65. 65

As an Australian living overseas, I am directly affected by this as i wait for the news as to whether my uncle and aunties home has been lost or not. Thanks for your concern Perez… this is a tragedy beyond words….

  66. 66

I am sorry to know that this is happening R.I.P.
Can anyone post some links to some organization that is taking donations from the USA???? Would like to do something yet I found lots and I am not sure which ones would really help in this particular case… thanks :)

  67. 67

I'm sorry, that was rude of me….. I wish the best for all those people. That is so so heart breaking and devastating. :( ….

  68. 68

    thanks perez!
my uncle lost his house :(
and we might have to leave ours tomorrow!
and to all those sicko tourists out there who think that fires are a tourist destination, stay off the roads!
as if the firies don't have enough to worry about without a rising body count!
    stay safe everyone!

  69. 69

I just woke up…all i can smell is smoke :( my town is safe, but im praying for those near by.

  70. 70

That is horrible, am thinking of you and praying. Also, let's not forget about the animals, farm animals, wild animals. Nobody said a word about them, they are also innocent victims of those fires. I hope the people who leave do not abandon their animals.

  71. 71

Our hearts and prayers go out to everyone in Australia affected by this tragedy.

  72. 72

Re: LG sez Drug Test Palin NOW! – We don't need your countries fake help anyway. We look after our own in a crisis unlike americans.

  73. 73

Monday morning update - 108 dead….my thoughts are with the bloggers in the region - you know we are all supporting you.

  74. 74

Thanks perez for thinkning of us all.

  75. 75

108 now confirmed dead with the toll expected to rise even further.
What country has one state that has experienced weeks and weeks of rain and is 65% flood affected and another burning literally to the ground?

    Only in Australia.

  76. 76

    Hey Perezzers,
the Victorian fires are the worst in Australian history, 108 people dead with the death toll expected to rise. Please show your love for Down-under and donate what you can to the victims through the Australian Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal at website www.redcross.org.au.

  77. 77

Yeah, and think on this too - most fires have been deliberately lit by arsonists. Every year its the same old story. These people should be shot.

  78. 78

    Donate here, guys!

These guys are doing a great job, and I'm volunteering with them in my parent's town to distribute food, water, clothing and toys for the kids, as over 4000 have lost their homes.

  79. 79

Thank you Perez for your heartfelt thoughts. It has been so hard but we are all coming together as a community!

  80. 80

    Re: Kate27
Online donations can be made at www.redcross.org.au. The site seems to be pretty busy at the moment, but please keep trying.
Thanks to Perez everyone in the US for your thoughts. 31 seperate fires still burning. 108 dead, expected to rise… Its beyond words at the moment.

  81. 81

thanks perez. its just a horrible situation for everyone in victoria. our prayers are with them

  82. 82

Thanks Perez!! I live in Sydney and my company has already started raising money to help the lost Victoria towns.

  83. 83

thanks perez! anyone who can give blood, clothes or make small donations..we are a state in a desperate emergency!

  84. 84

Thank you Perez. Us aussies are strong, well get through it.

    Much Love,

    Beth x

  85. 85

they have found over 100 dead people in victoria. OMG im crying i feel so sorry i have donated $300 to red cross hopefully it helps. The fires in NSW near Sydney are getting worse my family lives in sydney and might be relocating o my grandmas soon if they get any worse. fingers crossed they dont.

    Much Love,

    Beth x

  86. 86

We have now lost 108,very very sad here.
Pls Aussies if you can donate blood that would be of great help.

Love and prayers for all those that are directly affected.

  87. 87

Re: LG sez Drug Test Palin NOW! – But it's OK to borrow our sons and daughters to fight and die in your stupid ex-Presidents fake oil war????
Nice to know that your heart is as black as usual Leona.
There are over 100 people dead and that is all you have to offer?

  88. 88

hmmm….the latest number is 108 confirmed dead, but may take days to figure out the real numbers……
sad - so sad…..i just can't get my head around it. My thoughts are with everyone affected. The closest fire to me was almost 30 kms away…..so we have been relatively lucky in the south west of vic.
Thanks for the nice thoughts Perez…….the whole thing is just so devastating.

  89. 89

To all the people touched by this tragedy and to all our mates up in FNQ who are suffering with floods (the irony) my heart and prayers are with you all.
To the mongrel assholes who lit these fires - if you are not caught and prosecuted for mass murder then remember that karma gets everyone in the end.

  90. 90

  91. 91

Re: oz26 – thanks - the sun came out in FNQ today :o )

  92. 92

It's absolutely tragic that 108 are confirmed dead. There are still many people in hospital receiving treatment for burns and smoke inhalation so i can only assume the death toll will rise in the coming days.

Victorians, if you cannot donate money to the cause please donate unwanted clothes, toys, anything that could help.

A group of friends and myself are going to the local blood bank tomorrow to donate blood as supplies are critically low and these people urgently need it.

Instead of hoping for the best get off your behind and start helping your mates in need :]

  93. 93

Thanks Perez.. it is an absolute tragedy that something like this can happen.. and to think that the fires were deliberately lit…. 104 dead so far and possibly the toll to be even higher.

  94. 94

I live in Australia and it's just AWFUL here. Some poor guy put his kids in the car, ran into the house to get his dog, ran back outside and the car had been burnt to a crisp and had passed through. Please donate!!!

  95. Moo07 says – reply to this

ITs so devestating. 6 of my family members lost their homes. My pops farm is gone. He worked his whole life to build it up and is uncontactable but I have been assured he is safe but can't help but worry! My thoughts are with all of those who have lost loved ones, lively hoods and posessions xoxo

  96. 96

love, thoughts and prayers going out to all the aussies affected by this horrible tragedy ..stay strong…

from your neighbours in new zealand xo

  97. 97

Police have just confirmed the death toll is now 128 :-(

  98. 98

Re: LG sez Drug Test Palin NOW! – You're a one-eyed tranny Leona and your avie proves it. LOL

  99. 99

Re: Emzzily – Oh God thats so awful. I've been hearing horror stories all morning. Please all Aussies reading this - please donate whatever you can - time, money, blood, clothing - any help will be so appreciated. These people have nothing left.

  100. 100

    thanks perez for posting this.
no one really knows how awfful this is unless you live near the fires.
i live within five minutes of some of the fires, and it is scary.
whole towns have been burnt to the ground, and the death toll is expected to exceed 200.
