A Worthwhile Cause

CLICK HERE to read up on and donate to a very worthwhile cause!
"In response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic that devastated the Bay Area arts community, a group of passionately concerned artists, collectors and art dealers founded Visual Aid in 1989 to serve artists affected by the disease. Over time, the organization expanded its mission to help produce, present and preserve the work of professional, visual artists in need, those whose careers are challenged because of any life-threatening illness.
Each year, over 70 professional, visual artists suffering from disabling, life-threatening illnesses such as HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and Breast Cancer benefit from Visual Aid’s programs. Serving Bay Area visual artists from diverse backgrounds, the organization encourages artists to remain active participants in the larger arts community, and promotes dialogue on illness and art."

all eyes on me!
A real Great Cause
great cause. i love this.
wow; it's so wonderful that stories by perez on peoples panties showing
have 100 times more comments than this wonderful charity.
but hey, at least perezzers is posting this!
i donated.
It is sad the lack of comments, but hopefully more people donated than commented. I'm in no financial positioin to make a donation, but I did anyway. I had emergency surgery in December and even with insurance I owe about $5000, so I can't imagine how hard it is for the arts community since they are not insured unless a spouse or another job insures them, or they have to self-insure like I do. I'm the Director of an art gallery and my insurance costs are overwhelming, so even if you go on and donate five bucks, it really can help make a difference.
Thanks for the shout-out–Visual Aid hearts Perez Hilton!
Your donations and creative suggestions are a big help–this year, Visual Aid has been flooded with triple the usual number of applications. Because these times are hitting our artists so hard—they need Visual Aid more than ever. Artists with AIDS and cancer are among the most vulnerable in society. These days, many artists are finding themselves back in the position of having to choose between buying medication and the basic art supplies they need to continue their life’s work.
You’re an angel and your support is a real boost to Visual Aid, thank you!!!

Yay Visual Aid!
They've been there for me!
Thanks for noticing Perez dear.
If you're in the Bay Area don't miss the annual art auction "The Big Deal"…you can get a work for a song, and a song in your heart. (If you're not in the Bay Area, just come anyway!)
.
I recently began donating my work to Visual Aid. As the son of a veteran oncology nurse, I feel I can say that the work Visual Aid does is as crucial to the people they serve as is their medical treatment. And the organization could not be run by a nicer, smarter, more conscientious, more dedicated group of people. It has been an honor to support Visual Aid. You should too.
As one of many artists who've been helped by Visual Aid, I can attest to their preciousness during these crazy cash-strapped times. They are an amazingly
well run organization, a non-profit that is worth investing in. They help to makes
peoples lives feel a bit more normal.
