Radio Stations Stop Playing Chris Brown Songs!

wenn52342542.jpg

And the drama with alleged female beater Chris Brown continues!

In the aftermath of his arrest for domestic abuse, Brown has been dropped suspended from his Wrigley's gum ads and his MILK ads have also been pulled.

Now, a radio station in Cleveland, WAKS FM 96.5, has pulled all music by Chris Brown from airplay!

Java Joel, the station's evening host, said in a press release issued by Clear Channel that "After the alleged incident the phones exploded. It's all that people wanted to talk about. They were outraged at this alleged behavior and wondered why we were continuing to support his music. I agreed and immediately pulled all Chris Brown songs from my show until this thing shakes out in the legal system."

That's when the station's program director, Bo Matthews, decided to pull Brown's music off from the station entirely. Matthews said, "It appears that Chris has made some poor choices, we are following the lead of our listeners, and we will not be supporting Chris Brown on 96.5 Kiss FM in Cleveland until the alleged situation gets resolved."

We agree.

Some things are just not tolerable!

This mad dog is finished!!! I was very upset this morning, that my favorite radio station…Movin' FM 9.97, in Northern California is still playing Chris Brown songs. I am of mixed race, mostly black…so this isn't about color. I am so appalled by this cowardly monster, Chris Brown. He was going to launch a record company of his own, most people don't know that, even selecting acts. I am glad that he has been exposed for the freakish misfit of an animal that he really is, before he could gain more power in the industry, and do more damage to others. I want him thrown in prison for 25 years, to life. He should be charged for attempted murder, not just assault. Based upon this case, the authorites should do a close check on Chris Brown and anyone whom he may have associated with, even loosely, in recent years, who may have mysteriously wound up hurt, or missing. I have a deep feeling this guy is capable of murder, and has probably acted on it before.

    2. 102

Pittsburgh's 96.1 kiss also did the same thing.
I think it's fair.. at least until everything is figured out.

    5. 105

      poor rihanna.

    6. 106

Cleveland should def be pulling BOTH artists, not just chris brown….girls can be crazy too and im sure rihanna isnt miss innocent

    7. 107

As awful as I think this is, I believe that this is a truly sad sad sad sad story. I love Chris Brown, and I always think about that adorable video he did with elmo. But I think Chris and Rihanna are just too young, i know being the same age, its hard enough to have a relationship with someone, but to have to have the whole FAME and all the money in the world has to make things a million times harder. I dunno I feel for both of them,

    8. 108

Alright everyone i believe everyone is so intrested in this because everyone has been so obsessed with this couple because the public never really knew for sure if they were a couple! and now that somthing like this has blown up it has become so intresting, this is because nothing of this sort was never expected of chris. I think PEREZ your so wrong for judging chris when we dont know the whole story! only chris&rhianna do not even the police! I love chris brown and ri ri both! and for sure we dont know if rihanna or chris did the damage so stop picking sides people. They are both going through hard times now everybody just needs to stop pointing fingers till we get a statment from CHRIANNA…SO PEREZ PLEASE STOP MAKING RIHANNA LOOK LIKE A LIL ANGEL! WHEN THEY CAN EQUALLY BE GUILTY

    9. 109

I am not in ANY way defending or condoning chris brown or his behavior- but this radio station obvi did this for publicity- do they ever play CHANGES by tupac- the convicted rapist and murderer? Do they play T.I.??? Do they play anything by puff daddy or Danity Kane?? come on- the list goes on and on and on when it comes to entertainers who make poor choices…….

      110

this is ridiculous. no one knows what happened that night. and i think its funny that people are pulling chris's songs already but when another artist is involved with the law..such as TI..no one pulls his crappy music from the radio. if he randomly beat the crap out of her, and it was confirmed that it happened then i would understand..but until then, this is bulllshiittt!

for all we know.. rihanna attacked him.

      STUUUPID.

    11. 111

I'd have him. Perhaps he needs a man in his life.

    12. 112

power 96(96.5) and y100(100.7) in Miami have also pulled his songs, i agree, why continue supporting his SOB's action's.

    13. 113

I can't tell you how good this makes me feel. A few years ago, the police wouldn't even charge a guy for beating on a woman. They would consider it "personal" until the guy killed her. Then it was a homicide. So to have all these people reacting so positive is great. It sends a message that there is ZERO tolerance for domestic battery. As my sweet, conceited Kanye said, "It should have never come to this. " Chris Brown needs to make sure his posse and his "friends" and relatives do NOT go near that poor girl and harrass her in any way. Because I am hearing that is what they are doing. Anonymous threatening phone calls and other stuff to her peeps in L.A. This is really a rotten situation. Rihanna better be cooperating with Police. Chris Brown needs some mental health help. From inside a jail.

    14. 114

that sucks! i still love chris brown. that rihanna probably deserved it she seems like a bitch anyway. lol. I LOVE YOU CHRIS BROWN!!!

    15. 115

Did anyone stop to think, maybe she was abusing him and he was acting in self defense? Why are men always pegged as the bad guy? These days women are physically abusive too. Don't judge til you know the facts and no one really knows except Chris and RiRi.

    16. 116

if wrigley's suspended his ads, then why did I see one on channel 9 in l.a. last night/this morning at about 12:45am (during scrubs)?

    17. 117

Re: ariel cam – Your mother should have had an abortion when she was infected with you.

    18. 118

THIS IS HUMERUS TO ME, R. KELLY PEED ON AND HAD SEX WITH AN UNDER AGED GIRL AND PEOPLE STILL BUMPED HIM. STRANGE SOCIETY.

    19. 119

Miami's Y100 also stopped playing his songs.
I think it's stupid. It's just music. Nobody stopped playing Britney Spears when she was neglecting her children. Abuse is abuse. Lots of things happen behind closed doors. We don't even have FACTS yet, all we have is rumors. But yeah let's all judge before we know the real story.
Let's also ban these people from radi and television:
      Michael Jackson
      Kid Rock
      TI!!!
      Lil Kim
      Kanye West
      Paris Hilton
      on & on & on…

      120

This is kinda ridiculous. we have all these rock stars out here doing drugs, having sex with children, assaulting ppl, drunk driving, and shit and Chris Brown does one thing wrong and his songs are being pulled. I don't think hitting women is okay but we have tooooooooooooo little information to be getting this crazy. I don't think that his career is over, however, b/c he actually has talent.

    21. Hmmmm says – reply to this

      121

HOPEFULLY this will get his attention, he may have sold a few albums, but nothing entitles him to put the smack down on a woman. He deserves everything he is getting right now. As they say down under, good on ya mate!

    22. 122

unfair i remember thy stilled played r, kelly's music when he was caught with that tape of him with that lil girl and as well as t.i they could wait until he's found guilty or not

    23. 123

ok! I get it! So it's ok to pee on an (underage) females you just can't beat them up? I don't remember this kind of outrage as to pull songs off the radio with R. Kelly, and he was an alleged child molester!! All I'm saying is, pull one, you gotta pull them all! All who decide to make stupid decisions should be punished as harshly.

    24. 124

rere gave cbrown the herp….ya heard?!

    25. Jic2c says – reply to this

      125

They still played Michael Jackson when he molested children

    26. 126

It's kinda sad that people are defending him. Violence sucks and is not the answer. Nobody knows what really went on except for the two of them. Regardless, she did not deserve to get beat up.

    27. 127

I hope that other radio stations take there lead and stop playing his music. We need to stand up together and voice our disgust at this type of mysoginistic behavior. The record label and his management will be rolling out their PR machine b/c they need to protect their cash cow. They have no conscience and could care less about what's right and wrong. The only thing that matters is $$$$$$. Who else is putting out these disparaging rumors about Rhianna? His PR team of course who want to demonize the victim. These ignorant females professing their love and support for Brown need to join reality. Look at the facts in this case 1) he was charged with a crime- there must be some proof otherwise it would just be allegations2) Victim has visible injuries which were photographed by the police 3) an outside observer called 911 after hearing the victims screams4) he fled the scene 5) he eventually turned himself in after lawyering up with dirtbag, Mark Gregaros (scott peterson's attorney). Anyone, male or female, that raises a hand against another person is wrong. There is NO JUSTIFICATION for physical violence.

    28. 128

I know on my local radio stations that they've been playing Chris Brown or Rhianna songs all day.

    29. 129

Re: turnerjer23 – I Concur. Some women go too far and from what I've read about Rhianna from other sites she seemed to have been "fiery." I'm sorry but if Im a dude and a woman is constantly hitting and socking me, I'm eventually going to break. There's only so much anyone can take. But, again, we don't know all the details. Interesting how everyone is defending Rhianna without understanding the entire story. Let's wait for all the facts…please.

    30. 130

Domestic Violence is not okay and most women don't ask for it, but the truth is, SOME do. I've witnessed women provoking men, yelling, hitting, throwing. Men have the right to defend themselves against crazy women. A woman has a right to protect herself by not initiating a physical altercation. I am not condoning domestic violence, I am simply saying that some women are a mess and should not always be viewed as the "poor helpless victim."

    31. 131

I BET EVERYBODY HE WORK WITH , WAS LIKE " DAMN I KNEW I SHOULD OF WORKED WITH HIM" ….LOL

    32. 132

chris brown F…k You, your music in my itunes no more, never

    33. 133

NE-YO PROBABLY LAUGHING HIS ASS OFF!!!

    34. 134

i guess i'm a little late on this, but why did he hit her?
i herd it was cause she gave him a STD, is that true?

    35. 135

HE BETTER CHANGE HIS NAME AND BECOME A GOTH OR SOMETHING..LMAO

    36. 136

what a wanka. put him in jail and see how he goes up against some REAL men. He will be someone's bitch inside an hour!!!!!!

    37. 137

Perez - He shouldn't be considered a celebrity after what he did to princess RiRi…I understand due process and all, but in the meantime don't give him press…he doesn't deserve his name to be known.

    38. 138

first of all she gave him herpes!!!! He now has a new life long friend because of her so yeah!!

    39. 139

nobody did any thing to Ike for beating Tina, or Bobby Brown for beating Whitney- I think the truth has been stretched. Everyone just wants to make a big deal bc both Chris and Rhianna are so "Big, and the IT" couple..

    40. 140

I think every station should drop him, FOREVER! I will never listen again. Regardless of how the story ends up being spinned.

    41. mee2 says – reply to this

      141

honestly. people need to stop talking about domestic abuse and all this crap until they know what happened! has anyone seen these "photos" of rihanna? no. and this happened two damn days ago..half of these facts are probably not even true. are rihanna's songs going to be pulled if it turns out she beat him up and he acted in self defense? i seriously doubt it. im so glad that i can hear r kelly all the time even though he tried to have sex with an underaged girl and PEED on her. and im glad ive heard TI about 500 times today on the radio even though hes facing some serious jail time.

      weirddd/unfair world we live in..

    42. Santa says – reply to this

      142

Well If she started hitting him first then he should have whipphed her ass, maybe her music needs to stop being played on the radio. I am a female, I do not put my hands on anyone, if so then I should expect them to hit me back. i like Chris Brown, I am not a big fan of his music, I think I am a little too old to listen to his music. I think this thing has been blown all out of proportion. I believe this is a private matter, the media, us, and everyone else should keep their big nose out of it and let them deal with it any way they want. I also agree with the persons comment about pulling Micheal Jacson and R. Kellys music and every other singer that has ever had a domestic abuse record made on them that we do not even know about music should be discontinued.

    43. 143

I believe that a person should be judged after all the facts are out, what ever happened to innocent until proven guilty. I agree with LemonFart, the stations still kept on playing R.Kelly's crapy music. What about Jacko? How many kids does it take for people to wake up and send him to prison?

    44. 144

I think it's hilarious how Perez is so pious and is looking down his nose at someone for hitting a female when he's been harassing and bullying a 16 year old for monthes now. The only thing I can think of that irritates me as much as someone abusing a spouse is a grown ass man picking on little girls for fun. As for the rest of you…if you can get over R.Kelly PISSING ON A LITTLE GIRL and still bring yourself to dance to his songs, and if you can stand hearing the "Hey!" song that they play at every sporting event(even though a child molester wrote it) then you can stand Chris Brown. I can't wait for Perez' face to be cracked if it comes out that his "Princess RiRi" isn't so innocent. Like he knows her personally. She doesn't give a fuck about you!!!!!

    45. 145

Re: Zip – Uh…."before he could gain more power in the industry and do damage to others"? What is he, a fucking Transformer? Was he going to bitch slap all the acts on his label or something?

    46. 146

Re: lemonbird – Dude….chill. What, did he beat your ass in the Lambo too?

    47. 147

Re: slsrbz – "Violence sucks"? Fucking pillar of literacy, you are.

    48. 148

Although i do not condone what Chris Brown has done, and although i am not a fan of Rihanna at all, no one deserves to be abused ever. But i also think that pulling his music off the radio is a bit much, arent the rules of this country guilty until proven innocent, they are treating him like a stone cold criminal before the court date.
We all know of tons of artist who peddle drugs, do drugs and sing boldly about other crimes commited and no one pulls their songs off the radio… in fact the glamorize it and make it seem like its cool once it gets you to the top. Chris Brown grew up in an abusive home and no one really knows his personal life like that. He was dead wring for putting his hands on Rihanna, but whats fair is fair.

    49. 149

so-has it been proven that he attacked someone? has it been proved that it was Rihanna?

but yeah, his commercials and stuff shouldnt be on air if hes commited something like that.

    50. 150

Re: LemonFart – I agree with what you have said…if Rihanna had just been some video ho or other unknown chick, NO ONE would be this upset. NO ONE.

    51. 151

Re: Jic2c – ommmmmg first of all we r not tlkn bout michael jackson, obviously that case was a bunch of bullshit thats why ppl dnt tlk bout it anymre cuz it was an extortion attempt went bad..another thing we r tlkn bout chris brown which his nfluence is michael jackson..anyways lk i said pull chris brown music off u shld take rhianna shit for strtn the drama in the 1st plce..& r kelly,& the rest of the wack job in the music buisness.lol

    52. 152

yeah but michael jackson sexually abused who knows how many little boys, and everyone still eats up his shit like its candy…

    53. 153

that probably wasn't the first time he hit her, but definatly the worst!! dummy

    54. 154

Why aren't these radios stations pulling 80% of the music on the air?
I'm pretty convinced that CB did some horrible, horribl things to Rihanna that night, actions he should be fully punished for and with the evidence the DA apparently has I'm sure CB will be paying for his actions in a very real way for a very long time. BUT when convicted kiddie rapists, rapists, domestic abusers, drug addicts and people who have shot and/or killed other human beings are in continuous rotation on these same radio stations and tv shows that are now tossing up their arms in moral outrage at CB's appalling behavior and vilifying him when he's not been formally charged with anything, well, I find it a little disingenuous and hypocritical.

    55. 155

What about R Kelly? That disgusting pervert did not loose much airplay during his trial. If he allegedly urinated on under-aged celebrity teens, then maybe there would have been more outrage. If Chris Brown did this horrible thing, he should be dumped. Not because his victim is famous. Here's to greater accountability! I do hope, however, that he gets some help and moves other alleged offenders to do the same.

    56. 156

      Hey Perezalicious people,
Don't be fooled by "Java Joel". That mother f**ker didn't have a THING w/ pulling Chris Brown's songs. That's coming from the higher ups. Don't be fooled! That being said, if indeed, Chris Brown did do what has been alleged, he needs his songs pulled, and he needs to check himself. I don't give a fuck if Ri Ri hit him first or not! You never, ever, EVER hit a woman back. I know from personal experience. If she makes you that mad, just LEAVE! Chris Brown, if the allegations are true, (and in this country, you're innocent until proven guilty, remember that), YOU'RE FUCKED! ASSHOLE! I'm just sayin'. If not, you're owed an apology. But it's not looking good…..

    57. 157

"immediately pulled all Chris Brown songs from my show until this thing shakes out in the legal system."

…nothing like being tried and convicted in the court of public opinion. No matter what courts say, if the media paints someone as "guilty" then everyone acts accordingly right away. He may or may not have done something but as the public didn't witness it, we don't yet know.

    58. 158

Everyone says that Chris & Rihanna did this on purpose for a commercial but i dont think so cuz 1.It was gonna be a better commercial if they went to the Grammy and 2.This is actually bad 4 chris..They don't play his songs any more

    59. 159

If its true that she started hitting him for cheating I hope she got in
some good blows. He deserves it if he was spreading his dick around.

    60. 160

Re: C-Breezy – well you may not go to jail but you will still be an asshole who is to weak and beats women to feel powefull so you suck has i never seen .

    61. 161

i tried calling him for an hour and a half last night. it was busy the whole time. its completely ridic because they still play rihannas stufff. as a matyter of fact in that hour and a half they played like three orfour of her songs. we dont know if shes innocent. like he still plays t.i. and hes dealing with legal issues. they shouldnt stop playing something when someones arrrested and they dont have all the details, because if that happened theere would be so many songs not on the radio.

    62. 162

What don't people get when celebrities say they're real people too? What makes people think that a celebrity wouldn't be human? These people ARE NOT ABOVE YOU AND I! They are not Gods and Goddesses. Most are jerks and a-holes. Take this as a lesson learned.

    63. 163

Some of the Radio Stations in Houston have stopped playing him too

    64. 164

THIS REALLY BOTHERS ME TO NO END!!!! PEREZ U ALWAYS PASS JUDGEMENT ON SUM1; BUT LET SOME1 PASS JUDGEMENT ON A GAY/LESSY CHICK AND YOUR QUICK TO DEFEND THE ISSUE AT HAND. AND THEN QUICK TO MAKE A COMMENT ABOUT SUM1 HATING GAYS. LAY OFF CHRIS BROWN
IN USA UR INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY!!!! NOT ON THIS FUCKING PAGE!!! ANYTHING FOR MONEY RUIN SOMEONE'S CAREER BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE A FUCKING LIFE…..
I HAVE HEARD SO MANY STORIES ABOUT THIS I DON'T KNOW WHICH ONE TO BELIEVE… RIRI AND BROWN BROKE UP BUT MANAGEMENT PUT THEM TO GETEHER FOR THE SHOW PUBLICITY!!! THEY NEED TO BE IN JAIL FOR THAT, CHRIS AND RIRI AND EVERY OTHER ENTERTAINER SHOULD STAND UP MORE AND SAY HELL NO I AIN'T GOING WITH HIM/HER…
FUCK IF MISS RIRI WAS THROWING MY RENTED LAMBO KEYS OUT THE RIDE I WOULD BEAT HER ASS TOO, SHE DIDN'T HAVE TO GET IN THE CAR IF THEY WERE ALREADY HAVING PROBLEMS.
THEN OH WAIT WHO CARES THAT IS THERE BUSINESS
IF IT WERE ME IT WOULDN'T BE ALL OVER THE NEW AND GOSSIP COLUMNS…
SO WHAT HE FUCKED UP IF HE DID IN FACT HIT HER,
SHE SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM HIM IF HE DID.
HE SHOULD GET HELP IF HE DID
BUT IF A FEMALE IS PUSHING A GUY FOR IT SHE IS GONNA GET IT…
NOT SAYING ITS RIGHT BUT DAMN A PERSON CAN ONLY TAKE SO MUCH
SO MAYBE JUST MAYBE MISS RIRI SHOULD LEARN TO KEEP HER HANDS TO HERSELF, HER MOUTH SHUT, AND WHEN IT'S OVER IT'S OVER DON'T LET SOMEONE CONTROL YOUR LIFE….(MEANING THE RECORD LABELS)

    65. 165

Guilty until proven innocent….that's the way of America.

    66. 166

      NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I love his songs!
Argh - this whole thing makes me sick! I really wish it hadn't of happened!

    67. 167

I meet both Rhinna and Chris when they came to Adelaide, Australia, concert 2008. I took my 12 yo daughter and her friend. I was a Rhinna fan, however I was appalled by her behaviour, she was extremely rude and abrupt to her young fans. I did not expect her to stop and sign autographs, however she was abusive and rude to all her young fans. We spoke to another group of young girls, They went to greet her at the airport, she screamed abused at them and refused to take photos/sign autographs. Another group of young girls were invited to going bowling with Rhinna, Chris and the band by the local sponsor. After keeping everybody waiting for her, she refused to come when she saw the young girls, and called them a very-rude/derogative name. The young girls were shocked and left immediately. Throughout this Chris was extremly polite and posed for pictures and autographs with the young fans, though she hurled abuse at him. We all got the impression that he was very young & she totally dominated the relationship, and put him down in front of us. We where Rhinna fans, but after that experience…no more…Not sure of your sources Perez, but our experience of her was very unpleasant. Adelaide is a small town, she did not leave a positive impression.Chris was nice and approachable. That same weekend Snoop Doggy and IceT were also there, they were lovely and posed with all the young fans as well.

    68. 168

My station, STAR 102.1/WWST KNOXVILLE has pulled all Chris Brown songs, too. www.star1021fm.com

    69. 169

honestly, i know that its not right to "do" what they said was done, but…….would there be a big stink about this if he wasn't in the eyes of the nation? i don't think so…treat him like everyone else…if it was a normal everyday guy from your home town he would have spent the night in lock up and been home by now with no worries. hey chris….try not to smack anyone around! i cant hate ya!

    70. 170

I live in Rapid City, SD and our local top 40 station has also pulled the plug on Chris Brown with the Program Director giving a great message out about domestic violence. One of our local dj's on that station (Hot 93.1) was a victim of domestic violence and luckily escaped after years of abuse. My town may be small but its sending out the right message. It doesn't matter if you are Rhianna or some girl from a small town, never tolerate violence. Get help if you are a victim. I encourage all radio stations everywhere to take Chris Brown off your format. In order to stop violence we need to show we will not tolerate it.

    71. 171

Re: Fotini – It doesn't matter what kind of person she is. Nobody deserves to get beaten. It sickens me to think of all the people who could possibly believe she can deserve this. I don't care if she is monster bitch from hell. VIOLENCE IS NOT THE ANSWER! EVER!

    73. 173

that picture was from when he was performing take you down. if you were clever enough, you would have titled this "i'll take you down" instead of "i'll beat yo ass"

    74. 174

I hate what he did -but if radio stations do it for one, they need to do it for all. They didn't stop playing R Kelly songs when he got in trouble w/the law.

    75. 175

Im soo mad right now I hope this case hurry ups and blow I hate that they are pickin him out of all the other artists that do fucked up shit and they are still getting their music played. I just PRAY FOR CHRIS BROWN AND HOPE RI RI GETS BETTER

Given! Ok peeps, think: if this were any local kid in your area, saayy the Valentine's Dance King, (idk) would his title go unstripped? Even if we don't know verbatim what went down, hey. OBVIOUSLY it was bad enough to be a huge deal. So taking him off the air is so logical. He doesn't deserve CELEBRITY status if he's gonna act like a CONVICT!! Yeah, you could argue that there are a ton of artists having their stuff played on KISSFM even though they've been charged with SOMETHING in the past. But, why argue? Do u support this kind of behavior?!?!?! seriously……

I think that is taking this situation to an extreme! I don't agree with what Chris Brown, if he even did anything. Personal I don't always truly believe the media. Although I absolutely love it! Besides the point, Chris Brown's songs should not be banned because of this bad choice. Yes, I do think it is terrible what he did but I don't know the whole true situation. If this incident was as horrible as it sounds and Chris Brown is to blame then he needs help. He also needs some punishment himself. Just because this incident happened doesn't mean Chris Brown isn't a great musician. Yes, Rihanna is still way better! We can't just boycott Chris Brown because he made one mistake. Think of all the musicians and I'm sure one of them has messed up way worse! Not only musicians but think of yourself or people you. Everyone screws up in life sometimes but that doesn't mean you have to shut them out. I think KISS FM in Cleveland needs to look at Chris for his music not his actions!

I will state what another user has stated They were in the car leaving the Clive Davis party. While Chris was driving, he got a phone call from a young lady. Our source tells us that Rihanna knew that Chris had been messing around with this particular girl and she has, as of late, been the reason for many of their heated arguments. Rihanna got a glimpse of the phone, saw the name and number and immediately recognized who it was. She went ballistic and began to “beat the sh*t” out of Chris (while driving). She was so uncontrollable, that Chris began to fight back in self defense, which ensued the fight. Rihanna’s rage stemmed from Chris’ questionable fidelity in the last few months. I usually like to know both stories before judging just one person Rihanna sounds like a person who takes over people and is said to follow him around a lot. I think that it's foolish to blame someone for something that you don't know about. =]
