Car manufacturer G.M. announced Tuesday that they plan to cut 10,000 jobs.

      NISSAN cut jobs, but ALSO cut their executives pay by 10% and took away their bonuses, GM fired people to save enough money so they can GIVE their execs bonuses. And we wonder why the Japanese firms are doing better…

      the market is off over 400 points or 4.9%. looks like everyone is really excited about the stimulus plan Obama is marketing and the banking plan Gitner is detailing today.

      You liberals need to stop drinking the Kool Aid… Republicans aren't trying to make Obama fail, they are trying to stop something that won't work and will hurt us for MANY years to come. The Republicans believe in small government, and this "Stimulus" package is designed to create a big fat pig of a government with a budget that will never be balanced.       There is more to this story than just job cuts for those commenters who are clueless. There are salary cuts across the boards and benefit cuts too. Hourly and salaried are affected in this industry and these people ae your friends and neighbors-compassion comes in here too. It could or will be you next. My community is devastated here in Michigan by this and all the perifiral job losses. the longest run furniture store where my grandparents purchased a sofa in the 1920's is closing because no one has a job. Schools are shutting, the street lights aren't getting replaced because of home values going down and no tax money. sound like your city? It's happening world wide. It's not just the US car business or greed by one group. We are all in this together. And yes, my husband no longer is working. It's been over three months. We will survive. At least for now.

      This whole mess started back in 1971 and has been helped along by many bad decisions and bad policies enacted by many different politicians over the years. I love how the markets tanked today on news of MORE government interference into our economic situation by our ridiculous fat pig government. The markets have about as much faith in the communists in our government as I have faith in your ability to not attract an STD and a serious case of ugly AND stupid.

      It's a shame that huge companies like GM can't quickly respond to changes in the economy and market. Unfortunately, the rank and file suffer more than the executives.
