Usher's Wife Suffered Cardiac and Respiratory Arrest
The Usher camp won't utter a word about the condition of Mrs. Usher, Tameka Foster, but the Brazilian media has been able to uncover a few details.
Reports say Mrs. Usher was rushed into intensive care on Friday, after a medical emergency during a liposuction operation in Sao Paolo.
She supposedly suffered cardiac and respiratory arrest as she was being anesthetized for the cosmetic surgery.
The LA neurosurgeon who was flown to Brazil to tend to Foster left the country on Monday and refused to answer questions from reporters assembled outside of the hospital.
Scary stuff.
If you're going to have any plastic surgery work done, make sure you do extensive research on your doctors, bb's. It's your life in their hands!!!

All surgical procedures have the risk of cardiac and respiratory failure and also other conditions such as death, so think really long before you decide to get your fat sucked out of your ass, go to the gym to work it off in a healthy manner.

That is definately scary shit!! I am scared now I am going into surgery next for for tonsil removal and fix a deviated septum and at the same time they will make some changes to my nose. I definately need my tonsils and septum fixed they are causing sleep apnea …..I have never been under general anesthesia and I am very afraid =(
Not only that, but make sure you have a complete physical before your surgery to make sure there are no underlying issues (like what happened to Kanye West's mom). You should also be up front about your medications, including alternative ones.

For the record Perez, any surgery carries risks. The most minor of surgeries can result in death, or some very ugly other things like arrests, which can lead to coma, death, vegetative states, and all sorts of other ugly things. That's the nature of the beast, which is why here in the USA you have to sign forms that constitute informed consent. If there is any validity to the reported timeline of her arrests, she may have had a reaction to the anesthesia, although lipo isn't the most friendly of surgeries either. What I don't get is why a woman who obviously has some funds doesn't stay in the USA and have her procedure in a hospital by a USA licensed surgeon, rather than take the chance on procedures and drugs not approved outside of the USA. It happens even in the best of circumstances though. Next.

Liposuction surgery is so dangerous . First because of anesthesia . And second because its suction swalow even the good stuff from the body . Third one and more importante : the doctors . Most of problems come from doctors not authorized, not experienced or not professional in that practice . Also fatality happens . That's why all tests must be made prior the surgery and taken in consideration . Doctors (those expensive ones) in Brazil are very good . They are Excellent ! The hospital Sirio Libanes where the patient is now is a rich and excellent hospital . Something weird happened in that case .

The most dangerous part of any operation is the anaesthesia, there is a risk of allergic reaction which can lead to cardiac arrest and death. It has nothing to do with the doctors competency… in fact the mere fact that they were able to intervene and save her life shows the exact oppisite!!!!!

It makes NO sense that a Neurosurgeon would be called in when she had resp/cardiac arrest. Get the facts straight! It doesn't add up….. Did she have a stroke?

She probably was in a coma (brain dead) after the cardiac arrest, hence the neurosurgeon.
Lobster, thanks for trying but #1 a coma you can come back from #2 brain dead you don't come back from. Once you are brain dead you are dead. She is alive and well so her being brain dead could not be the issue. A neurosurgeon would not consult on a patient in a coma, unless a neurologist was first consulted and found something that needed to be dealt with by a surgeon (brain bleed for example). How do I know this, you might ask. Well, my father has been a practicing neurosurgeon for over 30 years. Chances are she either had a bad reaction to the anesthesia, which can happen as a freak occurence or because the patient wasn't worked up thoroughly enough in pre-op. Chances are as well, that a neurosurgeon was NOT called down to Brazil, this detail was probably incorrect.
To all the ignorant people in this blog that does not know anything about Brazil. Brazil has excellent doctors and excellent hospitals. Naomi Campbell went to Brazil for surgery. If an US doctor went there after it happened probably because Usher decided to take him for a second opionion out of ignorance, not to try to fix anything. She was in great hands and if this adverse event occured was due to her reaction to the anesthesia, what cannot be prevented.

When I first read this story, I thought of the same thing that several readers have commented on. Plastic surgery is just for vanity's sake. It is not for life-saving purposes. And look at what happened to Kanye's mother. I hope Usher's wife will be okay, but plastic surgery is way too risky to chance your life.

I think the reason she's so desperate is because she's trying to keep Usher that bad knowing he has women all over him in Vegas while her butt is in Atlanta. For people that is not informed well Brazil has one of the best plastic surgery doctor's out there and the hospital she had the surgery is perhaps the number 1 in the country.

Anesthesiology is a very dangerous part of having surgery. It doesn't have so much to do with the competency of the medical staff as it does with how the body reacts to the drugs given for anesthesia.

It should be understood first that there is no complete unserstanding by any medical authorities on exactly how it is that anestesia works. There are theories but nothing ic clearly understood. Because of that, and because everyone is different and can even respond differently to anesthesia from one surgery to another, one must understand that even the best anesthesiologists can encounter fatal side effects while administering the medication(s) involved. Also, obviously many of you have not had surgery of any type before but there is a different physician administering anesthesia other than the surgeon. If it is true she went into cardiac arrest during anesthesia, it had nothing to do with the surgeon and may not have been preventable. They should be grateful they saved her because some negative reactions are not correctable.
For all the mean spirited, yes she gave into plastic surgey, but for all of the horrible things that are said about her on the internet, it is not wonder she succombed to that pressure. You should all lay off until this resolves or you leave behind all of these "sentiments" behind for her children to discover by googling their mother. It sucks enough for them to do so while she is alive, but seriously, its cruel to leave it out there if she's permanently injured or dies from this choice.

For God's sake, have you EVER made any research on that? Brazil is the top reference for plastic surgery and the best doctors in this field are there!

This happened to ME TOO when I went in for a nose job. The anesthesiologist shot epinephrine into my face and it went straight to my heart. I now have a permanent irregular heartbeat. Check out ALL your doctors that will be working on you and make sure they test your blood thoroughly to see if you have any deficiencies. Also, she went to another country because it's CHEAPER.

It's widely known that Brazilian plastic surgeons are the best in the whole world. The reason for that is that they are no just great with the nip tuck itself, but the aesthetic results are brilliant – it just looks more natural.
To think that latin Americans doctors are not capable to do this kinf of procedure is just stupid. The Hospital where is Tameka is hospitalised is on of the greatest in Latin America. Presidents e celebs go there – the brazilian vice-president and Naomi Campbell… I have a friend that works there, and everything is going just fine with his wife, and he’s is very calm right now.
