Beckham's Italian Drama MUST Be Sorted By Friday, Says MLS Head

We'll know David Beckham's soccer playing future by Friday!
Will it be in Milan or LA for the season?
According to ESPN, Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber revealed on Wednesday that he has notified the LA Galaxy that if a transfer agreement for Becks is not completed by Friday then MLS will not approve a transfer.
It's a deadline!
The comish said, "There is no reason why this should drag on. They [AC Milan] either want to do it or don't want to do it. This Friday we need to know if they want to buy David Beckham or not."
Apparently, the Italians have not put in a bid for Becks.
We thought Milan couldn't bid on him because of his contract with the Galaxy?!
Confusing!
The MLS head also confirmed the reports floating around that Becks has a clause in his contract that will allow him to leave the league after the 2009 season.
From what we've heard, sounds like Becks wants out before that - and badly!

Um, that's how soccer works. You buy the player's contract from the current team before it runs out or the current team looses it's investment from the transfer fee. He doesn't need a "clause" to leave unless it was an "auto-termination" clause, but if that was the case there wouldn't have been any drama. He would just say "I'm leaving" and go, but obviously that's not the case. LA can either decide to sell his contract or not. LA got Beckham on a free transfer because his contract expired and he wasn't obligated to stay in Madrid. That's not the case this time. This sucks because AC Milan is making LA look like the bad guy, not the case.
And those saying Becks sucks, you must not follow soccer as he made the starting squad and has scored two goals in the few games he has played. That's in the Serie A (one of the toughest and most talented leagues in the world) AND as a winger, a position that normally doesn't rack up goals.

Of course he wants out - he only went to LA in the first place because of his hard-to-please wife. In comparison to Europe the MLS is a backwater for football (or as Americans call it… soccer)

It doesnt matter if a player has a contract with a club, another club can still bid for the player… if the player doesnt have a contract then he can move to another club for free.
This is where all the stupid transfer fees come in like when man city were gonna pay £200 million for Kaka, or whatever! SILLY MONEY!

Beckham was injured for quite a few games the last season. Maybe he isn't feeling the love in the U.S. anymore. I hope the Galaxy is able to recoup some of that money. Seems to me he and his wife just jumped across the pond to scoop up as much cash as they could be for running back to Europe. Good riddance to them and their stupid underwear campaign!
all that stuff is really off, but in pro basketball, no one in the same league can bid on a player. i'm not sure if that's the same for soccer. who knows.
