Abe Lincoln's memory is living strong these days!
On Thursday, the fancy auction house, Christie's, sold one of the old president's handwritten manuscripts for $3.44 million.
Lincoln trumps the recession!
The sale of the handwritten 1864 speech set a new auction record for any American historical document.
Thursday's sale was just slightly higher than the previous record of $3.40 million set last year, also for a n1864 Lincoln document.
The manuscript was sold to an anonymous phone bidder.
Proceeds from the sale will go toward a new wing for the Southworth Library Association in Dryden, N.Y.
The recently sold document was given to the library in 1926.

Actually the portrait is made up of Jelly Belly Gourmet Jelly Beans. The Jelly Belly company has many different portraits of historic and pop culture figures done in beans,… they actually look pretty cool.
abe lincoln was a great man, freed the slaves, blah blah blah. in the beginning the civil war was not about freeing the slaves. it was about the Union reuniting with the Confederacy. the south broke away from the union because they lived a different kind of life. when abe lincoln signed the emancipation proclamation, which he only did because congress and the general public were breathing down his neck. abolishing slavery became a goal of the war 2 years after it had already started. just sayin'. people get it twisted.
fuck lincoln. he didn't free the slaves. the only thing he did was seize family owned farm land in the name of federalization and spark animosity between northern and southern brotherin. seriously…did every american since the civil war skip history class? or is it just the largest brainwashing in history?
