Here's what I can't stand. Perez's double standard! He rags on Jessica Simpson for putting on a few pounds and calls her fat in some of the photos, yet uses the word "stunning" above to describe Beth Ditto. I think it's awesome that Beth has posed like this. But, if she's stunning, why isn't Jessica Simpson after gaining some weight? Oh right…he's friends with Beth. I guess that's the difference. Nice.

Some people need to brush up on their art history…full figured women were considered very beautiful in the golden age (Botticelli) and with the realism movement (Bouguereau). They were beautiful because they were considred NORMAL & HEALTHY, not sickly and emaciated. We're so used to having these stick figures shoved down our throats that we've forgotten how to appreciate the lovely curves that are supposed to make up a woman…granted Beth Ditto is morbidly obese, but if she is comfortable with herself, what the hell is the problem? Who are you to say she's disgusting? You have a right to your opinion, but don't shun Perez for calling her stunning. He knows her as a person and is free to use the word if he feels she deserves the label. I personally think she could be healthier by dropping some lbs, but I don't think she has to starve herself to be accepted by the rest of you. Her confidence makes her beautiful.

i don't think his reasoning for insulting jessica simpson has anything to do with her weight. i think it's the whole mentality behind pop culture that creates these shallow icons for people. beth ditto is someone people can relate to because she's eccentric, outspoken, and obviously not perfect, but she's beautiful regardless. it's the entire image, not just the physical one. so, i think perez' glorifying miss ditto is warranted. she's amazing.

I think a great deal of you are a little confused as to why Perez mock Jessica, yet praises Beth. Jessica is known for her body. She has made money from her body. When Jessica was at the height of her career, she had stylists and handlers and a trainer. Now that her career is in the crapper, she has no one to help her and no one to get her up in the morning to exercise and no one to coach her when she sings. It's a proven fact that she like her sister, like Britney and a great deal of the other chicks, fall flat on their ass eating cupcakes, lip syncing and being big losers. This is why I believe Perez mocks. Beth does not pretend to be someone she is not. She is all real.
