This is SO important Perez! Thanks for posting it! This made me cry. I'm not gay, but I am a big supporter of gay rights–human rights! Incredible to think that up until 42 years ago interracial marriage was illegal (reversed with Loving v. Virginia)!!! This is the same thing!! Everyone should be supporting this all-important cause and basic denial of human rights in our system!

I am a straight wife with three children. I also never cry, but that video made me ball like a baby. I have never seen so many beautiful people in one video ever i don't think. These are people who are trying to add love in this world. I don't get why people have a problem with gay marriage. Most people struggle to find themselves and happiness. These people know who they are and what makes them happy. I am from Wisconsin and if I had the chance to vote on prop 8 I would vote no to HATE.

marriage was invented by the church, to ALLOW people to have sex.

for 200 years you were also able to marry someone "per procurationem", so you could have been somewhere in the world and someone else was there to marry a woman for you. This was also happening during WW2.

Im as straight as they come and this video brought tears to my eyes! The part where the son had a sign saying something like "proud to have 2 dads" or something like that, i thought was so touching. I grew up going to Catholic schools and learning that gays shouldnt get married or whatever and I remember from a young age thinking that, that idea was absurd! Its hard enough in this world finding someone to love and someone who treats you well…and if that just so happens to be with someone of the same gender…so be it

You also must know that marriage does not have to be sanctioned by the christian church to be legal. From a purely legal standpoint, Prop 8 could be found unconstitutional (i.e. it is not rationally related to a legitimate government purpose). It has a religious purpose which could also cause some constitutional issues… damn that US Constitution and the civil liberties it affords to all citizens regardless of their beliefs…

This is great! I wish I would have known about this, I totally would have sent a picture in! It makes me so sad that people just can't accept things and won't let people just love. I would be devestated if my sister were married during this time and they tried to divorce her partner and her. Although, I'm very sad that she may not get the chance to legally marry. Unfortunately the main organizations that are spreading hate in our country against the gay/lesbian communties are our religious institutions. I would like the gay/lesbain community to know that all of us straight folks agree with these teachings. It is a sad day in America when a church is more concern about someone sexuality than the real crisis that is destroying our country. How about child abuse, rape, drug addict, alcholism and the promotion of hate! If gay/lesbion couples can survive a marriage they are doing better than 1/2 of the straight citizens.

I love him more than I've ever loved anyone in my life & he feels the same, but my family (who comes from a very small town in "nowhere-ville") is strickly against our being together. I live about 1500 miles away from my mom and the rest of my family, but she has told me I can never come home to visit if I bring him & that we need to "stick to our own kind"… He IS my own kind…HUMAN!! Why can't people just be happy for one another. Life is so short, why can't we choose who we want to share it with. We don't get a second chance. When we live to make everyone else happy, what are we left with when all those people are gone?? Nothing… Alone… There is way too much hatred in our world today. Under our skin, regardless of whether we are black, white, purple, green, male, female, … we are all made of the same ingredients that God himself made. Please just let us all be happy with whomever we choose to be happy with. I wish all the same-sex couples the best of luck in fighting for their cause… and MANY years of happiness together!!!
