Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson - The Dreamgirls Of The NAACP Image Awards
It was a particularly inspired night at the NAACP Image Awards on Thursday night.
In addition to receiving awards for best female artist and best new artist, respectively, Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson both gave stirring performances, with B singing Halo and JHud The Impossible Dream.
will.i.am and Seal also performed at the Halle Barry and Tyler Perry-hosted event, which honors achievements and performances of people of color in TV, film, music, and literature.
The Secret Life of Bees won for motion picture and Grey's Anatomy won for TV drama, along with one of the show's stars, Chandra Wilson, who picked up best actress in a drama series. Columbus Short of Cadillac Records won supporting actor in a motion picture and singer-actor Jamie Foxx for male artist.
Sean "Diddy" Combs picked up the TV movie actor trophy for A Raisin in the Sun, along with Hill Harper for CSI: NY, Tracee Ellis Ross for Girlfriends, Taraji P. Henson for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and Will Smith and Rosario Dawson for Seven Pounds.
Kenyan activist Wangari Maathai received the Chairman's Award, while boxing legend Ali won the President's Award, and hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons won the Vanguard Award for his achievements in charity.
But while there was additional excitement for President Obama, there was also additional sadness over the absence of Rihanna and Chris Brown, who had both received nominations in different categories.

Sources say now that Paris met Brown on late Friday night in Hollywood at a party for hip hop producer Timbaland. Paris with sister Nicky Hilton. Brown accompanied girlfriend Rihanna, who performed at the party with the guest of honor.
Photographers at nightclub Boulevard 3 captured Paris chatting with Brown at least twice. In one photo, Paris is seen holding a cell phone or Blackberry (they were the co-sponsor). If she was getting his digits at that moment, it would explain a lot.
The other picture shows Paris with her right arm around Brown’s neck, and the two are terribly cozy. Hilton comes with a tantalizing set of emotional baggage and a reputation for being frisky. In the picture, Brown looks mesmerized with Paris.

What's sad is that Rihanna had her face so busted up she couldn't even be seen in public. She might have damaged her larynx by being choked until she passed out, so maybe she can't use her voice right now. Make no mistake.
