"The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation (FTPF) is a unique nonprofit charity dedicated to planting edible, fruitful trees and plants to benefit needy populations and improve the surrounding air, soil, and water.

Our programs, recently featured in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Plenty magazine, and The Today Show, strategically plant orchards where the harvest will best serve the community for decades to follow, at places such as public schools, homeless shelters, drug rehabs, low-income areas, international hunger relief sites, and animal sanctuaries. FTPF's projects benefit the environment, human health, and animal welfare—all at once!

FTPF's goal is straightforward: to collectively plant 18 billion fruit trees for a healthy planet (approximately 3 for every person alive). Fruit trees heal the environment by cleaning the air, improving soil quality, preventing erosion, creating animal habitat, sustaining valuable water sources, and providing healthy nutrition."

Any gardener knows that fruit trees are the most troublesome,
temperamental, disease-prone things you can have in your garden.
Why inflict these disappointments on an unsuspecting public?
Oh, in the name of 'charitable donations'. Oh get in line, behind octo -mom

Re: sweet chupacabra – Hmmm…most trees are commercially grown, so they are naturally weak and need to be sprayed all the time. Fruit trees started right with organics need very little attention afterwards. Healthy plants get sick less…just like healthy humans. (Healthy humans eat healthy plants…no coincidence)

This foundation is probably the best cause you can give to…solves the carbon problem, the food problem, the local food economy problem, and promotes good health. Wake up sweetie chupa! Educate thyself!

The FTPF is really a worthwhile organization…I really hope that Obama gets the idea and starts a massive fruit tree planting campaign…he would be seen as a true visionary.

Google rawmodel for some more related ideas too. Peace! Grow your own food and everything falls into place :)
