Madonna has decided to flex her acting chops yet again!
The Swept Away actress is intent on portraying Wallis Simpson, the twice-divorced American maneater who in 1936 lured King Edward VIII to leave the throne as the King of England to marry her.
Madge is smitten with the legend of Simpson and said to have plastered a wall in her London home with clippings of the harlot!
"Madonna sees Wallis Simpson as her next big film project. She is as passionate about it as she was about playing Eva Peron in Evita… she is fascinated with this American commoner who refused to conform or offer explanations for her tangeled love life," explain reports on the magnitude of her passion for the part.
Honestly, we don't know if we're ready for another movie starring Her Madgesty!!

I am fascinated by the story of Wallis Simpson and Edward.
There are several made for TV adaptations of this story. my favorite is British miniseries "Edward @ Mrs. Simpson" with Edward Fox as Edward and Cynthia Harris as Wallis.
There is also "The woman I love" with Fay Dunaway and Richard Chamberlain.
And "The woman he loved" with Jane Seymour and Anthony Andrews.
Madonna was great as Evita Peron, actually. But Wallis Simpson?

I find it hilarious certain people think Madonna looks dumb. People have been critizing the way she looks since the early eighties when she wore boustiers and crosses and messy hair. She looks GREAT. I'd love to see YOUR fat bodies roll around on stage when your 50 or try to pull off half of what she does. Madonna accomplishes more in one day then you would hope to in your entire life.

They call her the Queen of Pop for a reason. 3.5 million people went to see Madonna in concert making her 300 million dollars more than any other solo artist EVER. She is the highest selling most succesfull female artist in history. Whether you like it or not. She has been number 1 since 1982. Deal with it.

Typical yet lame and unintelligent reasoning from the average Madonna fan: measure talent by how much money a performer makes rather than any artistic merit behind their music. It's funny how you seem to think anyone who hasn't had the success of Madonna is somewhat of a failure. The fact that she sells so many records just shows she's mass marketable, that's all. Madonna fans can never come up with a convincing argument that her music is actually more brilliant than anyone else, or that her voice is better than anyone else, because they can't. People like Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Dolly Parton, Fiona Apple,etc–you know, women who actually write their own songs and play their own instruments, because we all know Madonna is only as good as the people she teams with– have sold only a fraction of what Madonna has, but have single songs in their repertoire that are more brilliant than Madonna's entire music catalogue.
To be fair, all score transposing aside, she didn't do poorly in Evita, but as much as I love her (and have financially supported her during her last three tours), it's important that she sticks with that whole "no more acting" thing she promised after her last film, SHE PROMISED!

Even Abba, the most gooiest pop act in history that are still selling millions of records 25 years AFTER their breakup, made music that had more conviction than Madonna's, and they didn't have to be controversial to do so. You take away the bigger than life persona, and all you have is very mediocre music from her. Her music has always been just a backdrop, a soundtrack to her personal life. If weren't for all the controversy she created, she would have been another forgotten dance-pop star from the 80s, and her music wasn't even better than the dance artists back then. You say she's accomplished more than anyone, including the people who criticize her–well, that's all subjective. I'm pretty happy with my life and accomplishments, and wouldn't trade it for hers. If she can ever move me with her voice, or come up with a song or style that doesn't incorporate something someone else has already done, and done it better, I'll consider her accomplished as well.
She seems to do well as an onscreen slut. Loved her in Evita. I'm sure she'll do just as good of a job in this one.
