Boycott Facebook! Here's Why

We're so glad we've never uploaded any of our stuff onto Facebook!

You Facebook users are SCREWED.

Did you know that everything you've loaded up into your profile (personal pictures, etc.) belongs to Facebook, even after you've closed your account?

That's what it says in the Terms of Service you agreed to when you opened your account, apparently.

The Consumerist recently uncovered this disturbing info and it's causing quite a stir.

So, what does this mean?

Basically, Facebook can do whatever the hell they want with YOUR STUFF.

And, they can do so WITHOUT your permission.

For example, they can license your personal pictures out to companies, make a shizzle of money and don't have to give you a dime.

Sounds really, really shitty and sooo shady!!!!!

they just announced they're going back to their old terms of service.

    "Terms of Use Update

A couple of weeks ago, we posted an update to our Terms of Use that we hoped would clarify some parts of it for our users. Over the past couple of days, we have received a lot of questions and comments about these updated terms and what they mean for people and their information. Because of the feedback we received, we have decided to return to our previous Terms of Use while we resolve the issues that people have raised."

    MYSPACE !!!!

  12. 312

They just released a new "Terms Of Agreement" today saying that they do not keep your pictures or any other personal info. Hahaha prob cuz everyone was complaing.

  13. 313

hahaha facebook went back to its previous Terms of Use!

  14. 314

Who cares, I'll still use facebook, go ahead and take my shit, what's it gonna do to me…? I'm not so stupid as to post a bunch of personal shit anyway.

  15. 315

Find another Social Network. There are plenty.
In my opinion Facebook is now an axis of weasels.

  16. 316

oh no, facebook owns the pic of me and my kitty. lmao..whatever

  17. 317

Once you put anything on the internet it belongs to the WORLD!

  18. 318

I already knew about their shady terms of agreement, but I don't care. Apparently it's changed now anyway.

The real sketchy thing, is that I heard some businesses will try to access your facebook account, to look around at your pictures, notes, or information. If they're not pleased with your facebook information (disgusting pictures, stupid notes, etc) then they won't hire you. If you've made your facebook only available to friends, than I don't see how they can do that, but one of my friends (graduate student, owns his own business), told me some businesses can get at the information.

I don't believe him, in cases where people have set their profiles to "friends only". If your profile is accessible to everyone however, than I don't see why a business can't (or shouldn't) look at a potential employee's information … hell, I would do it too.

  19. 319

    fuck you facebook !

  20. 320

they have to own the right to it. i mean think about it, when another person searches for you on facebook, your picture and name pops up, in order for facebook to display your profile (private or public), they have to have the right to do so! so your silly ass doesn't sue them for letting someone else see your profile picture or name in the search…

  21. 321

BUT i do not completely agree with the terms :/
for example, ever since i added the facebook mobile application, i kep receiving these stupid phone calls from telemarketers all over the world! however, my cell number is not made public on my profile, even to my friends. a few of my other friends received phone calls from the exact SAME telemarketers… sketchy???

  22. 322

this is why i have a myspace… not facebook!

    323

ugh my friend MADE me get a facebook. i knew it sucked ass
    myspace is way better

  24. 324

    FUCKIN BITCHES!~

  25. Colls says – reply to this

    325

All you people saying Myspace wouldn't do that, check there TOS (Terms of Service) they do the same exact thing. Myspace sent all the threats and plans of attack against me to the detective handling my case. Its called a Perpetual License and for people such as myself is a LIFESAVER. So whatever pictures, blogs, comments or emails you are sending on myspace it doesn't matter if yo delete them Myspace will always have it and is ALWAYS WILLING to send it to a detective or lawyer handling the case.

  26. 326

    Oh fuck.

  27. 327

problem is . . MYSPACE does this TOO. it's in your terms of use agreement. so . . suck it up.
